Summary: This systematic review evaluates the effectiveness of downstaging therapies for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients beyond the listing criteria. The results suggest that patients who are successfully downstaged and transplanted have a longer overall survival compared to those who are not transplanted. However, there are no significant differences in the survival rates between these two groups based on an intention-to-treat analysis.

Summary: In HCC patients with Child-Pugh grade A liver function, cirrhosis staging can be determined by measuring liver collagen contents using Collagen Proportional Area (CPA), which significantly affects the risk of Posthepatectomy Liver Failure (PHLF). The study also found a significant correlation between CPA and a non-invasive method called Cirrhotic Severity Scoring (CSS) proposed by the team, showing that higher CPA values and extent of hepatectomy are independent risk factors for PHLF, and there is a positive correlation between CPA and CSS.

Summary: The management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) involves the collaboration of multiple disciplines, including hepatologists, surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and radiotherapists. By properly staging patients and selecting suitable treatments, the prognosis for HCC is improving. Surgical options, such as liver resection and orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT), provide curative-intent treatment but have limitations. Non-surgical ablative techniques, especially for small HCCs, have been shown to have comparable overall and disease-free survival to surgical resection. The use of ablative techniques is globally recommended and there are promising results with recent technical advancements and the use of robotic assistance.

Summary: This study aimed to determine an algorithm for pre-operative platelet transfusion in patients with cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma undergoing laparoscopic microwave ablation. Through logistic regression models and analysis of laboratory values, it was found that patients with thrombocytopenia and anemia or thrombocytopenia without anemia were at higher risk of bleeding complications and could benefit from pre-operative platelet transfusion. Further validation and potential application in novel therapies for platelet-based clinical treatment in liver disease are warranted.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations between cardiac magnetic resonance feature-tracking-derived myocardial strain parameters and volumetric function and hemodynamic parameters in patients with pulmonary hypertension. The results showed that impairment of myocardial strains was more strongly associated with alterations in ventricular function parameters than elevated pulmonary arterial pressure, limiting the diagnostic information of myocardial strain parameters in pulmonary hypertension.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the imaging characteristics and prognostic factors for the long-term survival of Behcet's disease (BD) with arterial involvement. The results showed that arterial lesions associated with BD usually involve multiple arteries and manifest differently in different types of arteries. Cardiac involvement and pulmonary artery aneurysm/dilation were independent prognostic factors for the survival of BD patients with arterial involvement.

Summary: This study investigated the potential of tin prefiltration and virtual monoenergetic imaging (VMI) in suppressing metal artifacts in high-resolution CT images of the lower extremities. The results showed that VMI reconstructions had better artifact reduction compared to T3D. VMI110keV had the least image noise. In terms of image quality, interpretability of bone-metal interface, and overall image quality, VMI110keV performed the best.

Summary: This study aimed to develop CT radiomics models to preoperatively identify lymph node (LN) status in resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients. The results showed that the combined model, integrating ESCC and LN radiomics features with clinical features, had the highest predictive ability among the three models. The combined model's predictive ability was validated in both the test and external validation cohorts.
