Summary: The study found that empagliflozin use for 6 months resulted in a significant reduction in left ventricular mass indexed to body surface area (LVMi) in patients with type 2 diabetes and coronary artery disease. Further analysis showed that patients with higher baseline LVMi experienced greater improvement with the use of the drug.

Summary: The study found a modest correlation between AHI determined by the ASV device AutoSet CS (ASC) and that calculated by polysomnography (PSG) in patients with HF and SDB. However, the ASC device tended to overestimate AHI and showed moderate agreement with PSG results.

Summary: Recent advancements in heart failure therapies, combined with non-invasive cardiac imaging techniques, have led to improved clinical and structural outcomes. Reverse remodelling, as a biomarker for treatment success, has been correlated with patients' clinical response. The introduction of new therapeutic agents and the evaluation of cardiac reverse remodelling using non-invasive methods have expanded the possibilities for successful treatment.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of S/V on HFrEF patients using 3D transthoracic echocardiography and found improvements in LV size and biventricular function in non-ischaemic patients, whereas only LV function improved in ischaemic patients, with no effect on RV function. Diastolic function and NT-proBNP significantly improved in both groups. The study highlights the different impacts of S/V on LV function between non-ischaemic and ischaemic patients.

Summary: This study confirmed the effectiveness of adaptive servo-ventilation (ASV) in reducing hypoxaemic burden related to sleep apnoea in heart failure patients. However, a significant hypoxaemic burden remained, which was related to the severity of heart failure and may have negative implications for long-term cardiovascular outcomes.

Summary: Chronic hypoxia plays a crucial role in many cardiac diseases, affecting the heart's metabolic processes. However, the exact mechanisms of adaptive cardiac metabolism in response to chronic hypoxia are still not fully understood. New findings from animal and human studies are summarized to illustrate these mechanisms and potential treatment strategies in patients with chronic hypoxia.

Summary: This study followed 1089 patients over a period of time and found that patients with HFrecEF had better prognosis and quality of life. Echocardiographic markers of cardiac remodelling in HFrecEF patients showed gradual improvement, while changes in HFtrecEF patients were minimal and resembled those in patients with persistent HFrEF.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of ASV on nocturnal ventricular arrhythmias in patients with CSA and HFrEF. The results showed that adding ASV to guideline-based medical management did not significantly affect nocturnal ventricular ectopy or tachyarrhythmia over a period of 12 months.

Summary: The effectiveness of ASV therapy in reducing cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in CSA patients remains debatable. However, ASV treatment can significantly reduce the risk of MACEs in patients with nadir nocturnal saturation <= 80%. For heart failure patients, those with LVEF > 33% or NYHA I/II classification benefit from ASV therapy in lowering MACEs risk compared to usual care.

Summary: The study found a significant association between mothers' nonstandard work schedules and adolescent obesity in high-income families, but this association was no longer significant after adjusting for confounders. There was no clear association between mothers' nonstandard work schedules and adolescent obesity in low-income families. Policy makers should consider mothers' work schedules as a factor in preventing adolescent obesity.
