Summary: A robust trend test for detecting gene-environment interactions under an additive risk model was developed in this study, incorporating the gene-environment independence assumption to increase power. Numerical investigation showed that the proposed tests are more powerful than traditional tests assuming specific genetic models, with the incorporation of the independence assumption enhancing efficiency by 2.5-fold.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health and found a relationship between housing conditions and mental health in European countries. Living alone was associated with higher levels of loneliness and lower life satisfaction. Lack of access to outdoor facilities and household crowding were also suggestively associated with worse mental health outcomes.

Summary: 1p32.3 microdeletion/duplication is associated with various neurodevelopmental disorders. The SSBP3 gene, located in this chromosomal region, is critical for neurodevelopment and is involved in autism-associated behaviors. Manipulation of the Ssdp gene in Drosophila leads to morphological alterations, changes in neuronal density and synaptic density, and perturbations in oxidative stress-related pathways. Flies with elevated Ssdp levels exhibit behavioral defects similar to autism, which can be partially rescued by normalizing Ssdp levels.

The findings highlight the urgent need for action and solutions to address the long-term consequences faced by healthcare workers.
