Summary: Compared to the classic estrogen receptors, the understanding of GPER biology in breast cancer is limited. Mitochondrial dynamics play a crucial role in cell survival and death under various microenvironmental conditions. It is revealed that GPER induces mitochondrial fission in breast cancer cells through the activation of Drp1 and down-regulation of fusion proteins Mfn1 and Mfn2. Moreover, mitochondrial fission is required for GPER-induced cell death in breast cancer cells.

Summary: The study reveals that drug-resistant cancer cells can induce chemoresistance in cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) through paracrine signals, and targeting TGF-131 and p44/42 MAPK signaling may help eliminate chemoresistance in CAFs.

Summary: This study investigated the potential benefits and mechanisms of action of Aspergillus oryzae-fermented wheat peptone (AFWP) on human skin keratinocytes. The findings indicated that a specific fraction (AFW4) demonstrated the highest efficacy in cell proliferation and antioxidant properties. Furthermore, AFW4 was found to increase the expression of genes encoding natural moisturizing factors in the skin.

Summary: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of blindness worldwide, with macular neovascularization (MNV) being a common complication in advanced stages. This study investigated the role of allograft inflammatory factor-1 (AIF-1) in the proliferation of choroidal endothelial cells (CECs) and the progression of MNV. The results showed that elevated expression of AIF-1 promoted MNV progression by stimulating CEC proliferation, and silencing AIF-1 significantly improved MNV progression in mouse models by inhibiting the p44/42 MAPK signaling pathway. AIF-1 could be a potential molecular target for treating MNV.

Summary: This study aims to identify biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and finds that the A beta 37/42 ratio can be used to distinguish AD from normal aging. Experimental results show that this ratio outperforms the traditional ratio in differentiating physiological and pathological states in cell culture, brain tissue, and cerebrospinal fluid. The findings may provide a new indicator for early diagnosis of AD.

Summary: Our study revealed significantly decreased RECK expression in GC samples compared to normal samples, and RECK was identified as a promising predictor for the prognosis of GC patients. Moreover, upregulation of RECK demonstrated a distinctly positive association with a high-immunity and low-metastasis microenvironment in GC. Mechanistically, the antitumour effects of RECK on hampering tumor cell growth, migration, and invasion were mediated by the ERK/MAPK signaling pathway.

Summary: The cryo-electron microscopy structure of the active FLCN complex provides insights into the regulation of cell growth and metabolism by mTORC1 pathways. The study reveals the important role of FLCN in controlling mTORC1 phosphorylation of key substrates and suggests new possibilities for developing selective mTORC1 antagonists.

Summary: In this study, we established a simple and efficient method, based on LC-MS technology, to identify the substrates and enzymatic activity of amino acid decarboxylases. By conducting enzymatic reactions in vitro and analyzing them using LC-MS, we successfully identified the substrates and products of known amino acid decarboxylases.

Summary: A novel collagen-like peptide, col4a1, extracted from amputated earthworms has been found to enhance wound healing by promoting fibroblast viability, proliferation, migration, granulation, and collagen deposition. The peptide functions through binding with integrin alpha(2)beta(1) and upregulating the RAS/MAPK signaling pathway.

Summary: Intranasal immunization with riboflavin as a mucosal adjuvant enhances mucosal immunity and systemic immune response for H1N1 WIV, while also improving the protection level against lethal influenza challenge. Riboflavin has the potential to induce dendritic cell maturation and cytokine secretion, and activates the MAPK signaling pathway, suggesting it as a promising mucosal adjuvant for influenza nasal vaccine.
