Summary: Scientific conferences are increasingly including online aspects, with some becoming entirely virtual and others adopting hybrid models. The development of virtual conference participation has the potential to reduce environmental impact and increase equitable access, but it also raises concerns about the reduction in informal communication between attendees.

Summary: This study aims to enhance the application of positioning technology in behavioral science research by developing a research tool that can analyze GPS tracks, with two field experiments conducted to test its application. Results showed that participants exhibited diverse behavioral responses when facing border guards, with some GPS-derived behavioral variables linked to self-reported mental states. The study demonstrates the potential of using psyosphere for behavioral experiments with positioning technology outside of a laboratory setting.

Summary: The study examines the relationship between cognitive and affective factors and people's information-seeking and -avoiding behaviors in acute risks. It found that perceived information insufficiency is negatively correlated with information-seeking behavior, and there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between information insufficiency and avoidance behavior. Moreover, perceived response efficacy is positively correlated with information-seeking and negatively with information-avoidance behaviors.

Summary: This study analyzed stakeholder input on the EU procedure regarding valproate teratogenicity and proposed ways to enhance engagement with PRAC. Stakeholders provided a wide range of proposals, with some convergence among patients and most HCPs but some divergence among HCPs. The study identified ethical aspects relevant to regulatory decision making and crucial input gaps for RMM implementation.

Summary: Comprehensiveness of flavoured tobacco product (FTP) sales restrictions in the USA varies widely. Current and future FTP policies would be strengthened by including all flavours and all tobacco products-particularly menthol cigarettes-and by avoiding exemptions for certain retailers, particularly adult-only retailers.

Summary: This study analyzes the framing of radon gas on European radon spa websites and identifies five frames: radon as a source of health, natural gas, (non) risk, luxury, and fountain of youth. These frames sometimes contradict the presentation of radon in a public health context.

Summary: This study analyzes the robustness of specific public transport networks, showing that the spread and impact of faults in the networks are influenced by structural parameters. It is found that removing stops with the highest interactive betweenness, PageRank, and degree centralities has the most significant influence on the network's integrity.

Summary: Science-related crowdfunding enables public engagement with science, but currently only a small segment of the public, who have above-average education and income, participate in science crowdfunding. These backers mainly have an existing interest in science, personal ties to project initiators or the scientific community. The size of donations is mainly influenced by personal appeals in campaigns or connections to initiators, rather than the scientific merit of projects.

Summary: The Danish NF1 cohort study aims to examine the health-related, socioeconomic, and psychological consequences of living with NF1 using a nationwide and population-based approach. The cohort includes all individuals in Denmark who were hospitalised or registered with NF1 from 1977 to 2013. The findings so far reveal increased risks for various disorders, psychiatric conditions, lower education levels, and difficulties in forming partnerships among individuals with NF1. Women with NF1 also have higher risks of spontaneous abortions and stillbirths. The study highlights the impaired quality of life and need for professional support among adults with NF1.

Summary: A well-informed populace is crucial for democracy, and media news articles play a key role in shaping public perception of scientific issues. However, not all information presented in news articles is trustworthy, highlighting the importance of promoting scientific media literacy (SML). This study examines the impact of a teaching-learning sequence (TLS) on undergraduates' understanding of how news articles influence public perception of science, emphasizing the need for research-based university science education to enhance SML in higher education.

Summary: When considering whether to accept preprints that have received press coverage, we need to balance the interests of the public, the publisher, and the author. During public health emergencies, the interests of the author and the public align, as both want rapid dissemination of life-saving information. However, the interests of different parties are not always aligned. Most preprints are not life-or-death matters. Disseminating study results through preprints conflicts with the journal editor's interest in delivering fresh, original content, and can occasionally lead to unintended harm if the findings are later proven false.

Summary: The EMBL-EBI Complex Portal is a knowledgebase of macromolecular complexes that provides persistent stable identifiers, with data freely available and downloadable. In collaboration with other databases, the yeast complexome was curated, leading to an increase in curated complexes compared to the previous dataset. The analysis showed that genes in complexes have more genetic interactions, are more multifunctional, and are often involved in nucleic acid-related metabolic processes.

Summary: Precision health requires citizens to actively participate, understand the benefits and risks of health decisions, and be willing to share personal data. Citizen engagement initiatives in EU member states mainly focus on genomics, organized and funded by government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and scientific societies.
