Effect of cumulin and super-GDF9 in standard and biphasic mouse IVM

Summary: This study assessed the effect of adding novel TGF-beta superfamily proteins, cumulin and super-GDF beta, to the culture media in a biphasic IVM system. The results showed that cumulin and super-GDF9 significantly improved oocyte developmental competence in standard IVM, but had no effect in CAPA-IVM.

Summary: PCOS is characterized by reproductive and endocrine abnormalities, with metabolic dysregulation. Recent study found that treating obese, pre-diabetic women with NMN could improve skeletal muscle insulin sensitivity. The research on DHT-induced PCOS mouse model showed that NMN treatment could normalize NAD levels in muscle, leading to the improvement of metabolic dysfunction and insulin sensitivity.

Oocyte in vitro maturation physiological basis and application to clinical practice

Summary: Oocyte in vitro maturation (IVM) is a minimally invasive technique involving the collection and culture of immature oocytes to maturity outside the body. It is now classified as nonexperimental and is primarily indicated for patients with a high antral follicle count and for fertility preservation in cancer patients. Significant advances in IVM culture methods have been made based on animal studies and a simplified patient treatment protocol, leading to its routine practice in specialized centers worldwide.

Pathogenesis of Reproductive and Metabolic PCOS Traits in a Mouse Model

Summary: PCOS is a common disorder with unclear etiology and pathogenesis, managed based on symptoms. A PCOS mouse model showed that irregular cycles, anovulation, and weight gain are early features, while adiposity, impaired glucose tolerance, and dyslipidemia are later characteristics. These findings support early diagnosis with body weight criteria.
