Summary: This study investigates liver abnormalities in children with Turner Syndrome (TS) and finds a higher prevalence of elevated liver enzymes and liver diseases compared to matched controls. These findings highlight the importance of early and consistent liver function screening in TS and the need for further research on the etiology and treatment of liver disease in this population.

Summary: This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of leukocyturia in asymptomatic aircrews and the proportion of STIs in those presenting leukocyturia. The results showed that leukocyturia was more common in women than in men, and among asymptomatic adults under 35 years of age with leukocyturia, a high proportion of STIs were detected using multiplex NAAT.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate outcomes of athletes 5 years post-operatively following arthroscopic Bankart repair, identifying factors associated with satisfaction and shoulder function. Findings showed a high rate of satisfaction, good patient-reported outcomes, and high return to play rate, with moderate recurrent instability and revision surgery. SIRSI score, VAS score, lack of sleep trouble, and returning to play at the same level were associated with satisfaction and SSV score.

Summary: This report presents a unique case of transient hyperphosphatasemia in a pediatric patient. Investigation into the persistent abnormal increase in ALP over 9 months led to the confirmation of TH diagnosis. The study indicates a higher prevalence of TH in pediatric liver transplant recipients within the healthcare system compared to previously reported rates in the United States.

Summary: This study found that the metacarpal cartilage thickness of athletes is thicker than that of healthy controls, and weightlifters had worse pain scores and work performance scores. The results suggest that sports activities may affect metacarpal articular cartilage, and impact and loading could lead to cartilage edema.

Summary: This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the impact of changes to urinalysis with reflex to culture (UARC) reflex criteria on culture performance and clinical decision outcomes. The results showed that the implementation of stricter UARC reflex criteria led to a significant decrease in culture rates with improved diagnostic efficacy without significant adverse events. Although antimicrobial prescription rates also decreased, this was primarily driven by preintervention changes. Continued education is needed to change antimicrobial prescribing practices.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate how concussion history affects neurovascular coupling in Special Operations Forces (SOF) combat Soldiers. While there was no main effect of concussion history on neurovascular coupling response in SOF combat Soldiers, a dose-response based on lifetime concussion incidence was observed. Assessing NVC response may provide further insight into cerebrovascular function and overall physiological health in individuals with a history of concussions.

Summary: Military resilience research is on the rise due to its association with stress adaptation. This study found that younger Special Operations Forces combat service members had a higher percent increase in middle cerebral artery velocity following a breath-holding task. Those with higher resilience tended to recover faster from physiological stress, while mild traumatic brain injury history did not show a significant association with stress response and recovery.
