Summary: The authors present a compact method for spectral light-field imaging using a transversely dispersive metalens array and a monochrome imaging sensor. They demonstrate the ability to obtain 4D images in a single shot and discriminate visually indistinguishable objects. This technique allows for high-resolution spectral and spatial imaging, making significant progress towards ideal plenoptic imaging.

Summary: The study showed significant damage to the glycocalyx in sublingual blood vessels of septic patients, especially in the smallest capillaries. The damage to the glycocalyx of the smallest capillaries is moderately related to alterations in the microcirculation observed in response to sepsis.

Summary: Recent imaging techniques allow for the joint capture of spectral and polarization image data, making it interesting to describe the related image statistics for the design of computational imaging techniques and future processing. Through global investigation and analysis on specific clusters of materials or reflection types, it is observed that polarization channels generally exhibit higher inter-channel correlation compared to spectral channels.

Summary: This paper proposes a compressive sensing-based snapshot spectral imaging system for circular polarization, which can acquire two-dimensional spatial, one-dimensional circular polarization, and one-dimensional spectral information in one snapshot measurement. The system shows improved spectral resolution compared to traditional methods, and its feasibility and fidelity are verified through image and spectral reconstruction evaluations.

Summary: The study aimed to examine the effects of pravastatin on microcirculation and mitochondrial function in the liver and colon, as well as the role of PPAR-alpha in septic conditions. The results showed that pravastatin improved microcirculation in the colon and liver under septic conditions, independent of PPAR-alpha and without affecting mitochondrial function.

Summary: This report investigates the effects of hydration and desiccation of ex vivo porcine skin on the reflectance of polarized light at different wavelengths. The results demonstrate that hydration leads to a modest increase in total reflectance, whereas desiccation has little effect. In addition, hydration does not affect polarized reflectance, but desiccation slightly lowers polarized reflectance.

Summary: Spectral imaging detection using acousto-optical tunable filters (AOTFs) faces a significant challenge of low throughput. To overcome this, a novel polarization multiplexing design is proposed, resulting in a more than two-fold increase in system throughput. The effectiveness of the design in improving system throughput and enhancing the imaging signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by approximately 8 dB is validated through analysis and experimental results. Additionally, an optimization strategy for arbitrary AOTF devices is proposed, which can achieve similar spectral effects.

Summary: We have implemented a high-capacity, long-distance, and high spectral efficiency photonics-based polarization multiplexing communication system at W-band. Using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme and antenna polarization multiplexing technique, we achieved signal delivery up to 119.1 Gb/s with a spectral efficiency of 9.9 bit/s/Hz over a 10 km optic-fiber link and 4600 m wireless link. Through the utilization of higher-order modulation formats, probabilistic shaping (PS) techniques, and equalization algorithms, we were able to increase the spectral efficiency and throughput of the communication system.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether Dl-3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) could improve intestinal microcirculation in septic rats. The results showed that NBP improved intestinal microcirculation disturbances, alleviated systemic inflammation, reduced small intestinal mucosal damage and disruption of microvascular endothelial cells, and alleviated autophagy in vascular endothelial cells in septic rats.

Summary: Fluid selection and administration during shock is usually based on macrovascular abnormalities and resuscitative targets, but the microcirculatory unit plays a vital role in delivering oxygen and nutrients to cells. Microcirculation is regulated by both systemic and local factors, potentially leading to functional changes and impacts on tissue perfusion not reflected by macrocirculatory parameters. Understanding how microvascular characteristics influence acute fluid therapy decisions and resuscitative efforts is crucial.

Summary: Sepsis is a global health concern that can lead to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), resulting in higher mortality rates. Panx1 has been identified as a potential target for therapeutic interventions in sepsis-induced MODS due to its involvement in various processes, such as inflammation and immune responses. However, further research is needed to understand its complex role and develop suitable pharmaceutical interventions for clinical use.

Summary: This paper proposes a polarization analysis method based on a multi-parameter model to address the polarization effect analysis and calibration requirements of a dual-coded snapshot spectral polarization imaging system. A full-link polarization effect model is established for the system, and the influence of various parameters on the system's optical transmittance is analyzed. The system's polarization effect distribution under different degrees of polarization and wavelengths is obtained using a dynamic data exchange mechanism and ray tracing. The study provides a feasible calibration method and a theoretical basis for polarization effects analysis and calibration in dual-coded snapshot spectral polarization imaging systems.

Summary: This study developed an instrument to validly determine the cumulative stress exposure for preterm infants in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Through two consecutive questionnaires, NICU nurses and physicians rated the relevance and stressfulness of 77 potential stress-inducing procedures. The resulting NeO-stress score consists of 38 items with a stressfulness index, providing a quantification of stress in preterm infants.

Summary: This study aims to gain insight into the development of parenthood six months after delivery of a preterm infant due to the mother's preeclampsia or HELLP syndrome. In this qualitative interview study, we conducted individual interviews with the Working Model of the Child Interview to tap into the subjective experiences of parents who went through preterm delivery due to preeclampsia or HELLP. The interview data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Many statements made clear that these parents are undergoing a distinctive development, and psychological support should help parents regulate the shock, process traumatic experiences and integrate the frightening life event into parenthood development.
