A three-component condensation of 2-naphthol, aromatic aldehyde and urea/amide in one-pot catalyzed by the polymer-supported sulphonic acid NKC-9 to produce alpha-amidoalkyl-beta-naphthols was described. The method has the advantages of catalyst reusability, good to high yields and environmental friendliness.
