Summary: In this study, a highly regioselective hydrosilylation of propargylic amines was described for the first time. The reaction utilizes a PtCl2/XantPhos catalyst system to deliver hydrosilanes across the alkyne, resulting in multifunctional allylic amines in high yields. The reaction is tolerant to a wide variety of functional groups and provides high value intermediates with two distinct functional handles, as shown through the synthesis of diverse ambiphilic aziridines.

Summary: This study presents two green and facile protocols for the synthesis of polyfluoroalkanesulfinyl or alkylsulfinyl 4-isoxazolines. Various aldehyde and ketone derived nitrones reacted with alpha-alkynyl sulfoxides under catalyst- and solvent-free conditions at room temperature, providing a series of polyfluoroalkanesulfinyl or alkylsulfinyl 4-isoxazolines with high efficiency. The synthesis was further improved to a one-pot process in aqueous medium, eliminating the need for isolating the nitrones. These reactions offer easy and environmentally friendly methods for the preparation of sulfinyl 4-isoxazolines.

Summary: In this study, the first total synthesis of shagenes A and B, tricyclic terpenoids containing a cis-substituted cyclopropane, was reported. The synthesis was achieved through ring-closing metathesis and Ir-catalyzed double-bond isomerization, with control over chemo- and diastereoselectivity in the distorted cis-substituted structures. The total synthesis also provided insights into the absolute configuration of shagenes.

Summary: Here, a Pd-catalyzed reaction for the selective and diastereoselective synthesis of dendralenc-functionalized dihydrofurans using allenyl acetates is described. Mechanistic studies revealed the formation of an epoxide from a carbonyl bond through cycloaddition, which has practical and mechanistic significance for the construction of other bioactive heterocyclic epoxides. The research also highlights the utility and potential of allenic esters as C2 synthons and 1,2-biselectrophiles in cycloaddition reactions.

Summary: The gold-catalyzed reaction of propargyl esters with alkynylsilanes produces vinylallene derivatives through consecutive [1,2]-acyloxy/[1,2]-silyl rearrangements. This transformation features good yields, full atom-economy, a broad substrate scope, easy scale-up, and low catalyst loadings. The reaction mechanism involves the generation of a gold vinylcarbene intermediate and a type II-Dyotropic rearrangement involving the silyl group and the metal fragment.

Summary: A method for synthesizing N-alkyl-1H-1,2,4-triazoles from N,N-dialkylhydrazones and nitriles via a formal [3+2] cycloaddition including the C-chlorination/nucleophilic addition/cyclisation/dealkylation sequence was developed in this study. The in situ generation of hydrazonoyl chloride based on the ambiphilic reactivity of hydrazones allowed for the synthesis of various multi-substituted N-alkyl-triazoles in high yields. The synthetic utility of multi-substituted triazoles was further demonstrated by additional transformations.

Summary: The interplay between crystal structure and electronic structure in semiconductor materials is crucial for their potential technological applications. In this study, the high-pressure behavior of semiconducting antiferromagnetic material beta-Cu2V2O7 was investigated, revealing a pressure-induced phase transition to gamma-Cu2V2O7 below 4000 atm. The structural and electronic changes were studied using techniques such as single-crystal X-ray diffraction, absorption spectroscopy, and ab initio density functional theory calculations. These findings not only shed light on the potential barocaloric effects of beta-Cu2V2O7, but also suggest its significance as a multiferroic material with a decreased electronic band gap and a significant structural volume collapse.

Summary: Metal vanadates MxV2O5-x, are compounds of technological interest for energy storage and photocatalysis. We report the high-pressure behavior of Co2V2O7 and find it to be structurally stable up to at least 6 GPa, attributed to the 6-fold coordination of the Co2+ atom. Co2V2O7 has an indirect band gap, which decreases under compression due to the shortening of the Co-O bonds. Ab initio simulations support and extend our findings.

Summary: Dynamic Covalent Chemistry (DCvC) plays an increasingly important role in supramolecular chemistry and materials science. In this study, we demonstrate the dynamic nature of the exchange between phenols and vinyl ethers. The fast exchange at room temperature and under mild conditions has been observed. Summary: The synthesis, crystal structures, and luminescence of two lanthanide polynuclear complexes with the general formula [Ln(2)(tda)(3)(H2O)(5)]center dot 3H(2)O (Ln = Sm, Eu; tda = thiodiacetato anion) have been investigated. The compounds were obtained by direct reaction of H(2)tda and lanthanide(III) chloride in an aqueous solution. The structure of the polymeric complexes contains Ln(III) ions in a tricapped trigonal prism geometry. The versatility of this ligand allows for different coordination modes and leads to the formation of thick 2D sheets. Direct excitation of the Ln(III) ions results in sharp luminescence emission in the solid state for both complexes.

Summary: A study on two isomorphous copper(I) halide compounds, [C8H6Cu2X2N2] (X = Br, I), was conducted using high-pressure single-crystal X-ray diffraction and luminescence experiments, as well as ab initio simulations. The experiments revealed pressure-dependent changes in the structural properties and emission bands of the compounds, which were also confirmed by the simulations. Notably, a second-order phase transition was observed around 3.3 GPa, accompanied by redshifts in the emission bands due to shortening of the Cu-Cu distances.

Summary: Our research group investigates the coordination chemistry of rhenium(II) and its potential use in molecular magnetism. We prepared four novel Re(II) compounds and characterized them using various techniques. The crystal structures of these compounds consist of mononuclear [Re(NO)Br-4(L)](-) complex anions and NBu4+ cations. Cryomagnetic measurements showed quasi-magnetically isolated spin doublets with weak antiferromagnetic interactions at low temperatures. The magnetic behavior of Re(II) was influenced by ligand field, tetragonal distortion, spin-orbit coupling, and covalence effects, as well as intermolecular interactions.

Summary: This work presents two isostructural Cu(I)-I 2-fluoropyrazine (Fpyz) luminescent and semiconducting 2D coordination polymers (CPs) with reversible luminescent response to temperature and pressure. The structural flexibility of the Cu(I)-I chain is significantly linked to the corresponding alterations in luminescence and conductivity under pressure and temperature changes. The CPs also show promising behavior as heterogeneous photocatalysts for persistent organic dyes.

Summary: The effect of pressure on the structural, vibrational, and optical properties of room-temperature crystallized PbGa2S4 is investigated. X-ray diffraction, Raman scattering, and optical-absorption measurements are conducted at pressures beyond 20 GPa, and the results are compared to ab initio calculations and related compounds. The study reveals a partially reversible pressure-induced decomposition of PbGa2S4 into a mixture of Pb6Ga10S21 and Ga2S3 above 15 GPa, offering a route for the high-pressure synthesis of Pb6Ga10S21, which is isostructural to the stable Pb6In10S21 compound.
