Summary: This study explores students' perceptions and experiences of PE in secondary schools in England, specifically comparing KS3 (age 11-14) and KS4 (age 14-16). The findings suggest that students have unfavorable views of KS3 PE due to its structure and social comparisons, but have positive perceptions of KS4 PE with increased choice and opportunities for stress relief. Students recognize the role of teachers in shaping their PE experiences, but acknowledge that the student-teacher relationship changes throughout secondary school, requiring a variety of pedagogical approaches. Furthermore, PE is seen as a means to improve wellbeing, highlighting the need for more holistic outcomes in PE lessons.
