Summary: In this study, we propose using ensemble models (such as Random Forest) to assess the importance of input features in machine learning models, in order to establish causal relationships between variables. By analyzing oil field production data, we find that our results align with confirmed tracer information, demonstrating the effectiveness of our proposed methodology.

Summary: This paper proposes an approach for inferring Granger causality between jointly stationary, Gaussian signals from quantized data. It presents a rank criterion for the equality of two conditional Gaussian distributions and characterizes Granger causality in terms of the rank of a matrix involving the covariances. A new measure of causality is derived from the smallest singular value of the causality matrix. The conditions for reliable inference of Granger causality from quantized measurements are derived, including binary quantization and non-uniform or high-resolution quantizers. This approach does not require identifying the parameters of a system model.

Summary: The concept of Granger causality is increasingly used to characterize directional interactions, with a multivariate framework being essential for estimating Granger causality from multivariate time series. Direct causality measures with variable selection and dimension reduction techniques have been introduced to address estimation problems related to non-informative or non-significant variables. The study shows the superiority of dimension reduction measures, especially for high-dimensional systems, in assessing the performance of bivariate and multivariate causality measures in the time domain.

Summary: This paper investigates the dynamic interactions between renewable and nuclear energy sources and economic growth in France, Spain, and Germany, using a complex methodological framework. The results suggest that there is no statistical causality between renewable energy use and economic growth in France and Spain, while a weak one-way link is found in Germany. Additionally, economic growth is found to substantially trigger nuclear energy consumption in Spain, supporting the growth hypothesis.
