Summary: Cell phones expose significant parts of the human brain and head to extremely low frequency (ELF) magnetic fields (MF) classified by the IARC as a 2B carcinogen. Measurements and simulations showed that the ELF MF emitted by cell phones can reach levels comparable to those known to induce biological and health effects, including carcinogenesis. Understanding the exposure and combined effects of radiofrequency and ELF electromagnetic fields is important for future studies.

Summary: The study demonstrated that exposure to aluminum led to decreased learning and memory retention in male mice and altered levels of neurotransmitters and oxidative proteins. Pomegranate juice provided protection against these effects to some extent, offering potential health benefits as a source of antioxidants.

Summary: Exposure to nano Nd2O3 led to reduced learning and memory abilities in female ICR mice, with increased levels of Nd and reactive oxygen species in the hippocampus. The disruption of oxidation-antioxidation homeostasis and altered amino acid neurotransmitter levels may contribute to the neuronal injury and cognitive decline observed in exposed mice.

Summary: This study analyzed the effects of exposure to extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-MF) on breast cancer cells. The results showed that ELF-MF increased cell viability, cellular morphology, oxidative stress response, and altered proteomic profile in breast cancer cells. Moreover, ELF-MF exposure also affected cell adhesion, migration, and invasion abilities, as well as induced changes in mitochondrial function.

Summary: This study found that aluminum exposure can cause oxidative stress and inflammatory injury in the liver of mice, leading to the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and induction of pyroptosis. Additionally, it was discovered that reactive oxygen species (ROS) promotes pyroptosis by activating the NLRP3 inflammasome, exacerbating aluminum-induced liver injury.

Summary: This study aimed to systematically review the effects of ELF-EMF on spatial memory and hippocampal changes in mice and rats. The results showed that 46.66% of the studies reported no significant effect on spatial memory, 33.33% reported impaired spatial memory and increased oxidative stress and free radicals, and 20% reported improved spatial memory, increased neurogenesis, and reduced oxidative stress. Therefore, it can be concluded that the effect of ELF-EMF on spatial memory depends on the duration of exposure, with longer exposure leading to increased spatial memory impairment.

Summary: This study investigated the neuroprotective effects of Dendropanax morbifera leaves and stems (DMLS) water extract on scopolamine-induced memory impairment in mice. The results revealed that DMLS protected neuronal cells from neurotoxicity and reduced oxidative stress. Animal studies showed that oral ingestion of DMLS improved memory impairment and enhanced memory abilities.

Summary: Research has shown increased risk of leukemia in children living near power lines, but results on adult hematological malignancies and brain tumors are inconclusive. This study found that exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic fields decreased the risk of most hematological neoplasms, with a positive association only observed for acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL).
