Summary: The study examines the relationship between language components and MMSE scores, finding that participants with higher MMSE scores have higher lexical density, longer speeches, and more tokens related to Time, Space and Action. These findings have potential significance in the screening of MCI.

Summary: This study presents a reliable and simple method for converting MMSE scores to MoCA scores (and vice versa) in patients with different types of dementia. By establishing a conversion table, the scores of the two assessment tools can be easily compared, facilitating research and clinical practice.

Summary: This study aimed to define corresponding scores for the Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). The results showed that MoCA scores were consistently lower than MMSE scores. A conversion table was provided to convert MoCA scores into MMSE scores and vice versa. This allows for direct comparison of cognitive test scores and observation of changes over the course of disease in patients with neurocognitive disorders.

Summary: This study compared the health status of beekeepers and vegetable farmers in Hubei Province, China. Beekeepers have unique dietary habits and nutrient intake, with some indicators higher and some lower than vegetable farmers. Regular consumption of royal jelly is associated with higher cognitive levels in beekeepers.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the ability of MoCA and MMSE to detect cognitive decline in elderly patients with ET. The results showed that both MoCA and MMSE had inadequate ability to detect cognitive decline in ET patients over 18-month intervals, suggesting that additional neuropsychological tests should be used in conjunction with these screening tools.

Summary: This study demonstrated the clinical significance of pre-treatment nutritional status using the MNA-SF among HNC patients receiving CCRT. Patients with normal nutrition had better treatment outcomes and higher overall survival rates compared to those at risk of malnutrition and malnourished. The study suggests that nutritional assessment should be incorporated in pre-CCRT evaluation for all HNC patients to identify those vulnerable to treatment complications and interruptions.

Summary: The study introduces a ranking convolutional neural network (rankCNN) method to predict MMSE through multi-classification, which outperforms other state-of-the-art methods on both ADNI-1 and ADNI-2 datasets. The proposed model achieved RMSE of 2.238 and 2.434 at baseline on the two datasets, demonstrating high prediction accuracy.

Summary: The study found that the use of metformin and DPP-4i in patients with diabetes and dementia was associated with a slower decline in MMSE scores, while insulin and sulfonylureas were associated with larger decrements in MMSE scores. Further research on the cognitive effects of metformin and incretin-based medications is needed.

Summary: The use of medications with anticholinergic properties in older adults with dementia or cognitive impairment may increase the risk of adverse clinical outcomes, including mortality. However, the evidence on the association between anticholinergic burden and cognitive decline, neuropsychiatric disturbances, decline in physical function, and institutionalization is still limited.

Summary: This study confirms that cognitive impairment (CI) is a marker of all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality risk in Chinese older adults, independently of other commonly assessed risk factors. The study also found that some sub-domains of the Mini-Mental State Examination may have stronger associations with mortality.

Summary: Malnutrition is an important contributing factor to child mortality in Guinea-Bissau. Despite a significant decline in child mortality, changes in the mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) distribution explain only a small portion of the decline. Understanding the driving factors of child mortality decline can inform future interventions.

Summary: This study found that residents who participated in clean-up work for a longer period, had lower household income, and had chronic diseases were at higher risk for sustained psychological symptoms nine years after the Hebei Spirit oil spill in Korea in 2007. Women, younger individuals, and those with higher educational levels also showed increased risk for sustained symptoms in anxiety, depression, and psychosocial distress, but not PTSD. The results suggest that socioeconomic factors such as offshore and maritime occupations, lower income, and educational level interact with participating in clean-up work to increase the risk of sustained psychological symptoms.

Summary: This study evaluated the indoor air quality (IAQ) levels and daily health symptoms of adults and children living in energy-efficient homes (EEHs) compared to conventional buildings. The results showed that EEHs had lower indoor concentrations of pollutants, stable indoor temperature and humidity levels, and an association between improved IAQ parameters and reduced risk of daily symptoms. Symptoms like eye fatigue and skin dryness were reported, but were not statistically significantly different from those in conventional buildings.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of extremely high temperatures on the abundance of mosquitoes by analyzing time series data in Incheon Metropolitan City, Republic of Korea. Culex pipiens was the most common mosquito species in the urban region, while mosquitoes of the genus Aedes were the most common in the rural region. Exposure to extremely high temperatures reduced the abundance of Cx. pipiens mosquitoes to a greater extent than that of Anopheles spp. Urban mosquitoes showed higher tolerance to extreme heat compared to rural mosquitoes, suggesting adaptation to urban thermal environments.

Summary: This study combined the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data with daily air quality and weather data to provide a nationwide representative dataset for research on the health impact of air pollution. The study generated exposure data for over 85,000 individuals over an 11-year period, allowing for the calculation of short-term, mid-term, and long-term exposure to air pollutants and meteorological indices. The findings are expected to support researchers in studying the health impact of air pollution and climate change, aiding in the establishment of local health care plans.
