Summary: Tachykinin-related peptides have been shown to influence the insect immune system, particularly cellular responses. Injection of Tenmo-TRP-7 increases circulating haemocytes and affects their phagocytosis and adhesion ability. The insect nervous system may play a role in pathogen recognition and immune response regulation, similar to vertebrates.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to determine the bronchial inflammatory phenotypes and associated characteristics in patients with asthma attending a specialist clinic. The study found that the most common phenotype was eosinophilic, and peripheral blood eosinophilia was the best predictor of bronchial eosinophilia. This information can help doctors select appropriate treatment and prevent asthma exacerbation.

Summary: The study explored the role of NK2R in the neuroendocrine control of the reproductive axis using a novel Tacr2 knockout mouse model. Results showed that NK2R stimulation elicited LH responses in mice, with partial suppression of basal and stimulated LH secretion in Tacr2 knockout mice, impacting LH pulsatility and breeding intervals. NK2R plays a modest role in the gonadotropic axis, overlapping with other tachykinin receptors.

Summary: This study investigated the role of neurokinin B (NKB) in regulating reproduction in Japanese eel. The results showed that NKB plays an important role in regulating the onset of puberty in eels, and it has a negative regulatory effect on the cAMP and Sterol Response Element signaling pathways.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of treating HIV-infected individuals with the neurokinin-1 receptor antagonist aprepitant on tryptophan metabolism. Aprepitant treatment was found to affect tryptophan metabolism, particularly in patients receiving combined antiretroviral therapy (cART), offering a potential opportunity to target inflammation and mood disorders in chronic HIV infection.

Summary: This study investigated the association between TFR1 expression and asthma severity. The results showed that TFR1 expression was correlated with lung function, inflammatory macrophage phenotype, and inflammatory cytokines in asthma patients. These findings suggest that TFR1 may serve as a marker for indicating asthma severity.

Summary: Alcohol use has significant negative consequences, especially for individuals with alcohol addiction. Current pharmacotherapies for alcohol addiction are limited in effectiveness and usage. However, research suggests that targeting neuropeptide systems, such as corticotropin-releasing factor type 1 and neurokinin 1/substance P receptors, may offer potential therapeutic options. This paper explores the findings and future prospects of these mechanisms as novel medications for alcohol addiction.

Summary: Asthma is characterized by chronic inflammation of the lower airways, with neurotransmitters and neuropeptides playing a role in the disease, exerting different effects. Regulating these effects may represent a potential novel approach for asthma treatment.

Summary: Objective of this study was to investigate the effect of amygdalin, an active ingredient in bitter almonds, on TGF-beta-induced EMT in bronchial epithelial cells and elucidate the underlying mechanisms. The results showed that amygdalin treatment relieved airway wall remodeling and decreased the expressions of EMT markers. Furthermore, amygdalin inhibited TGF-beta-induced EMT through regulating the expression of HPSE.

Summary: This study conducted a comprehensive analysis of the lipid composition in the induced sputum of asthma patients and healthy controls, revealing 9 different lipid phenotypes. The results indicated that abnormal lipid metabolism in asthma patients is associated with disease severity and lung function impairment.
