Summary: This paper proposes a new control algorithm for the On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC) of the main transformer in a wind farm, which is responsible for regulating the voltage of the collector network. The algorithm integrates OLTC control into the power plant controller and considers both the transformer voltage and the wind turbine voltages. By adjusting the OLTC voltage setpoint based on the wind turbine voltages, the algorithm prevents the wind turbines from reaching the voltage limits, thereby avoiding equipment stress and generation interruption.

Summary: This paper proposes a mechanical fault diagnosis model of OLTC based on the same-source heterogeneous data fusion. By detecting short-time high-amplitude data and transforming them into images, training and feature extraction are performed using an improved CNN. Auxiliary features are also proposed based on the characteristics of the entire vibration signal. Image features and auxiliary features are fused to form feature fusion data, which is then used to diagnose fault using SVM.

Summary: On-load tap changers (OLTC) are essential components in power transformers. The use of mineral oil as the dielectric liquid has drawbacks such as high flammability and limited biodegradability. Natural ester liquids have emerged as a viable alternative due to their sustainability, safety, and low coking tendency. Extensive testing has shown that natural ester liquids perform well in OLTCs, making them a suitable replacement for mineral oil. The improved lubricity and reduced coking tendency of natural ester liquids also contribute to the long-term performance of OLTCs.

Summary: This paper demonstrates the real-time applicability of an automated curative power flow control system in a High Voltage (HV) grid, implemented using an agent-based control algorithm. The control algorithm is tested in various scenarios and the agents' performance is analyzed. The results show that the heuristic agent algorithm can solve congestions ad-hoc and improve the overall system state, but the agents' reaction times depend on measurement availability.

Summary: The switching behavior of on-load tap changers (OLTCs) is closely related to the safety and reliability of power transformers. This study investigates the electrical dynamic response and mechanical vibration acceleration response of OLTCs using a designed test rig. Key parameters dependent on the switching process are extracted and analyzed. The study shows a correlation between the vibration acceleration of the diverter switch within OLTC and the sidewall and top cover outside the oil tank.

Summary: Numerical simulation of the interaction between U-shaped rings and a wind-sand field shows that the wind pressure is highest on the windward side of the U-shaped ring, with a negative pressure zone on both sides and a Karman Vortex Street on the leeward side. Three possible regimes of motion exist for sand grains in the wind field, with smaller grains being able to follow the airflow directly into the contact area of two U-shaped rings.

Summary: The expansion of renewable energy sources has led to an increasing use of power electronic converters in distribution and transmission grids. To ensure the stability of the overall system, suitable test procedures must be implemented before these converters are integrated into the existing grid infrastructure. Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHiL) offers a promising alternative approach for developing and testing power electronic components in a realistic environment. However, guaranteeing stability and accuracy when integrating physical and virtual systems in a PHiL setup remains a significant challenge. This paper utilizes the Nyquist and impedance-based stability criterion to analyze the stability of a PHiL system and proposes filter configurations to address instabilities caused by deviations in the AC network emulation.

Summary: This paper presents a comparative analysis of the zero-voltage zero-current switching (ZVZCS) soft switching technique with its counterparts, zero-voltage switching (ZVS) and zero-current switching (ZCS). The study shows that ZVZCS significantly reduces losses and improves efficiency compared to ZVS and ZCS. It also finds that the soft switching range of ZVS and ZCS is affected by maximum switch voltage and maximum switch current respectively, while ZVZCS is not influenced by these factors, resulting in an extended range of soft switching operation.

Summary: This article presents a scheme for fast and accurate tracking of single-phase grid voltage parameters under distorted grid voltage conditions. The proposed scheme uses a half-cycle moving-window discrete Fourier transform (HC-MWDFT) based pre-filter to ensure stability and orthogonal signal generation. By combining a positive feed-forward comb filter and a fractional complex resonator, odd-order harmonics can be attenuated and fundamental components can be extracted quickly. Unlike traditional phase-locked loop (PLL) techniques, the grid frequency is estimated indirectly using a simple open-loop frequency detector, avoiding the need for complicated controller tuning and external phase/frequency feedback loops.

Summary: This paper estimates the hosting capacity of solar photovoltaics in the electrical distribution network and evaluates the impacts of high PV penetration. The considered operational constraints and limits have a significant impact on the results, with some network buses reaching maximum hosting capacity as PV penetration increases, affecting network operation. Implementation of reactive power voltage-based droop control in photovoltaic conditioning devices can reduce voltage variation and improve operational performance in both radial and mesh type networks.
