Summary: The study found that early-onset severe preeclampsia and late-onset severe preeclampsia have different molecular mechanisms, with the former associated with metabolism-related pathways and the latter with immune-related pathways. Some key transcription factors may be driving the widespread gene dysregulation in both early-onset and late-onset patients.

Summary: This study aimed to identify factors affecting expectant management of early-onset preeclampsia and evaluate the correlation between expectant treatment and fetal growth restriction. The duration of 24-h proteinuria showed a negative correlation with expectant treatment, but expectant treatment could not improve the occurrence of fetal growth restriction.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the risk factors for early-onset and late-onset superimposed preeclampsia (SIPE) in individuals with chronic hypertension. The study found that kidney dysfunction was associated with early-onset SIPE, while nulliparity and pregestational diabetes were risk factors for both early-onset and late-onset SIPE.

Summary: Nocturnal hypertension is a significant predictor of early-onset preeclampsia in high-risk pregnancies, with a high prevalence among affected women. Office and ambulatory blood pressure measurements show distinct differences between different types of preeclampsia, with a stronger predictive value for early-onset PE.

Summary: This study revealed distinct immunological alterations in early-onset preeclampsia compared to late-onset preeclampsia, with reduced expression of complement and Toll-like receptor associated genes, as well as decreased numbers of mast cells and M2 macrophages in early-onset preeclampsia placentas. Tailored treatments for each subtype may be desirable based on the differing immune profiles observed.

Summary: Approximately half of obstetrical patients with severe hypertension did not receive the recommended antihypertensive treatment, and about 40% of those who did had delayed treatment. Black and Hispanic race, as well as preterm gestation, were associated with an increased likelihood of receiving recommended treatment, while White race and term pregnancies were less likely to receive treatment. Patients with hypertension emergency overnight and postpartum were less likely to receive any first-line antihypertensive treatment.

Summary: An early-onset preeclampsia prediction model was established by investigating the clinical characteristics, risk factors, and routine laboratory indicators of pregnant women in early gestational weeks. The combination of PE risk factors and routine laboratory indicators significantly improved the prediction efficacy. The support vector machine (SVM) model outperformed the logistic regression model and decision tree model in predicting the incidence of early-onset preeclampsia.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the predictive power of a model combining maternal risk factors and the Quadruple screen test for late-onset preeclampsia (PE). The model identified significant risk factors such as maternal age, inhibin A, history of previous PE, and other health conditions. The model showed a good predictive ability with an area under the curve of 0.78. Close monitoring of patients with these risk factors is recommended.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the role of maternal Kisspeptin as an invasion marker in early-onset and late-onset preeclampsia cases. The study found that plasma Kisspeptin levels were significantly higher in women with late-onset preeclampsia, while no significant difference was observed in early-onset preeclampsia compared to healthy controls. However, the exact role of Kisspeptin proteins in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia is still unclear.

Summary: This study identified distinct gene expression profiles and functions in early-onset and late-onset preeclampsia. Ferroptosis may play a significant role in the pathogenesis of early-onset preeclampsia, with genes mainly involved in hypoxia and iron-related pathways. Further research is needed to explore placental ferroptosis and its role in the pathogenesis of early-onset preeclampsia.

Summary: The aim of this study is to estimate the incidence and identify risk factors for de novo postpartum hypertension (dn-PPHTN) among a diverse safety-net hospital population. The study found that more than 10% of patients without a history of hypertension will develop dn-PPHTN in the year after delivery. Risk factors include age >= 35 years, cesarean delivery, and smoking.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study aims to determine the rates and indications of reoperations following primary lumbar fusion and identify the independent risk factors for early and late reoperations. The study found that surgical site infection and adjacent segment diseases were the most common reasons for early and late reoperations, respectively. Osteoporosis and diabetes were identified as independent risk factors for early reoperation, while multilevel fusion was a risk factor for late reoperation.

Summary: This paper assesses the changes in blood vessels during preeclampsia and describes the vascular patterns. The study found that in early-onset preeclampsia, there were changes in all structural components of endothelial glycocalyx, as well as severe disorders in central hemodynamics, arterial stiffness, and myocardial function. In late-onset preeclampsia, there were changes in hyaluronic acid levels, central hemodynamics, and myocardial function, which may indicate potential cardiovascular disorders.

Summary: This study investigated the familial aggregation of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) among different kinship relatives in the Taiwanese population. The results showed that individuals with first-degree relatives with T2DM had a higher risk of developing T2DM, followed by those with second-degree relatives. The risk was higher when the affected family member was the mother. There was a dose-response relationship between the number of affected family members and the risk of T2DM.

The results showed that a modest increase in sCr (<30%) was common and not associated with worse clinical outcomes, indicating that therapy should not be prematurely stopped.

The results showed that revascularization was associated with a lower risk of all-cause mortality in severe CKD patients, but it increased the risk of progression to chronic hemodialysis in non-dialysis-dependent patients.

Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated the influence of febuxostat on adverse events and mortality in gout. The results showed that febuxostat use gradually increased and reduced the incidence rate of Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis in all gout patients. However, for gout patients with comorbidities, febuxostat use may increase the incidence rate of acute myocardial infarction, percutaneous coronary intervention, and all-cause mortality.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether background medications modify the effects of SGLT2 inhibitor on eGFR and kidney outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes. The results showed that background use of renin-angiotensin inhibitor and loop diuretics was associated with a larger initial decline in eGFR, while background use of metformin was associated with a smaller initial decline in eGFR. Except for renin-angiotensin system inhibitor with favorable outcomes and loop diuretics with worse composite kidney outcomes, most medications were not associated with long-term kidney outcomes in patients treated with SGLT2 inhibitor.

Summary: This study investigated the association between post-occlusive reactive hyperaemia (PORH) and ovarian stimulation in normoandrogenic women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that the PCOS group had higher levels of C-reactive protein and insulin resistance. There was no significant difference in microcirculatory function between the groups at baseline, but after ovarian stimulation, the control group showed enhanced PORH while the PCOS group exhibited a blunting response. This suggests that normoandrogenic women with PCOS undergoing IVF may experience early changes in vascular endothelial dysfunction. Further observational studies are needed to determine if PORH measurement can predict IVF prognosis or obstetric complications.
