Summary: The study found that decreased levels of retinol dehydrogenases (RDHs) in Pten-deficient mouse RPE lead to degeneration, which can be rescued by a ROL-free diet. It was also discovered that RDH gene expression is regulated by forkhead box O (FOXO) transcription factors, which are inactivated by hyperactive Akt in the Pten-deficient mouse RPE.

Summary: Overexpression of PRL2 and reduced PTEN protein are frequently observed in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Inhibiting PRL2 can prolong animal survival and slow the accumulation of leukemia blasts in the bone marrow niche. This study provides evidence for the viability of PRL2 inhibition as a therapeutic strategy for improving clinical outcomes in AML and other PTEN-deficient cancers.

Summary: Researches have found that LINC00470 is upregulated in endometrial cancer and correlates with patient prognosis. LINC00470 promotes the invasiveness, migration, and angiogenesis of endometrial cancer cells, and facilitates tumor formation and metastasis in vivo, effects that can be reversed by upregulating PTEN. Furthermore, LINC00470 stimulates PTEN methylation through MYC-induced recruitment of DNMT3a, exacerbating the progression of endometrial cancer.

Summary: Resveratrol exerts neuroprotective effects on primary cortical neurons subjected to oxygen/glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) by modulating mitophagy, improving cell viability, suppressing apoptosis, alleviating loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and excessive oxidative stress. The protective effects are mediated, at least in part, by promoting mitophagy through the PTEN-induced kinase 1/Parkin pathway.

Summary: The study found that upregulation of LINC01410 in GBM cells promoted cell viability, while its silencing decreased viability. In TMZ-resistant GBM cells, increased expression of LINC01410 and drug resistance-related factors was observed, along with a decreased cell viability trend. However, silencing LINC01410 decreased the IC50 value, increased sensitivity and apoptosis in resistant cells, and led to upregulation of PTEN and downregulation of phosphorylated AKT.

By using special two-dimensional metamaterial units, the surface wave interference is successfully suppressed. The proposed scheme is validated through experimental and simulation results, which show that the MCI of the antenna array is effectively reduced and exhibits good performance at the interested frequencies.

Summary: Given the intrinsic and potential resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to antibiotics, it is crucial to develop new therapeutic options for infections caused by this bacterium. Bacterial metabolic pathways are being explored as potential targets for new antibiotics. This study investigates the metabolic mechanisms of glycerol and its intermediate glycerol 3-phosphate (G3P) in P. aeruginosa PAO1. The results reveal the importance of G3P homeostasis for the growth and virulence factor production of P. aeruginosa PAO1. The enzyme GlpD, involved in G3P catabolism, is identified as a potential therapeutic target for the prevention and treatment of P. aeruginosa infections.

Summary: This paper presents a novel nonlinear frequency domain equalization algorithm for SC-FDE systems. The algorithm improves the classical iterative block decision feedback equalization (IBDFE) algorithm by replacing ZF equalization with MMSE equalization and eliminating the iteration of the correlation factor. Delta estimation is also applied to improve equalization accuracy. Simulation results show that the performance of the novel algorithm is better or the complexity is lower than the IBDFE algorithm with similar complexity or performance.

Summary: Newton's rings are interference patterns consisting of concentric rings, commonly observed in classic optics experiments. In this study, we demonstrate the generation of generalized Newton's rings using vortex beams. Unlike conventional Newton's rings, the generalized ones exhibit spiral arms instead of concentric rings, accompanied by fork-shaped dislocations. Notably, the number of spiral arms and dislocations corresponds to the topological charge of the incident vortex beams. Experimental results confirm our theoretical predictions. This novel interference pattern can be utilized for measuring the topological charge of vortex beams.
