Summary: The study aims to address the problem of attributing single particle sources of atmospheric aerosols in air pollution research. A new technique combining optical trapping with spectroscopy methods was proposed to analyze the source of single aerosol particles. The results showed that the combination of gated Raman spectroscopy and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) in a levitated micron aerosol allowed for precise qualitative evaluations of different mineral aerosols and coal aerosols from various regions. Machine learning algorithms were also employed to improve the accuracy of the analysis. This research has significant implications for online aerosol analysis, aerosol monitoring, and early warning systems.

Summary: This study investigated the metabolism of polyacetylenes, lobetyol, lobetyolin and lobetyolinin, in vitro and in vivo using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry. A rapid and selective method was also developed for the determination of lobetyol and its metabolites. The results revealed extensive metabolic pathways involving oxidation, glucuronidation and glutathione conjugation. CYP2C19, 1A1, 2C9, and 1A2 were identified as the major isozymes mediating lobetyol metabolism.

Summary: In this study, a method using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time of flight-mass spectrometry was established to identify and quantify flavonoid compounds in Euryales Semen. A subsequent ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole tandem mass spectroscopy method was developed for the main components. The results showed distinct differences in flavonoid content between North Gordon Euryale and South Gordon Euryale, providing a scientific basis for quality control and utilization of Euryales Semen resources.

Summary: Extremely severe and persistent particulate pollution caused by industrialization and urbanization impacts air quality, regional and global climates, and human health. In this study, a quantitative analysis method for Cu element enhanced by silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in a single microsized suspended particle was proposed using optical trapping-LIBS and machine learning approach. The optimal AgNPs enhancement conditions were optimized, and various spectral pretreatment methods were compared. A wavelet transform (WT)-VIM-SPA-RF calibration model was found to have the best prediction performance for Cu level in black carbon particles.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the stability of CHE compared to ECHE as a quality marker for ZN. CHE and ECHE were identified using different developing systems on TLC, and their conversion was monitored using DART-MS, TLC-MS, and UPLC-Q-TOF-MS. The results showed that CHE was more stable on the TLC plate, suggesting it should be considered as a replacement for ECHE as a quality marker for ZN.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of Fufangmuniziqi formula (FFMN) on Alzheimer's disease (AD) and the role of alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins in the process. The results showed that FFMN improved cognitive and memory impairment in the AD mouse model. Alkaloids enhanced the cholinergic system, while flavonoids and saponins attenuated neuroinflammation and oxidative stress. These findings suggest that the combination of alkaloid, flavonoid, and saponin fractions derived from FFMN is a promising anti-AD agent.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the hepatoprotective effects of Shicao on CCl4-induced acute liver injury. A rat model of acute liver injury was established and liver function indices were assessed. Untargeted metabolomics was conducted to identify differential metabolites. Network pharmacology was used to construct a network of metabolite-reaction-enzyme-gene constituents, and key components and hub genes were screened. Shicao showed hepatoprotective effects against acute liver injury in rats.
