Summary: Melphalan (Mel) is a widely used antineoplastic drug for cancer and other diseases. In order to improve its solubility and stability, Mel was included in beta-cyclodextrin (beta CD), which is a macromolecule. The beta CD-Mel complex was then used as a substrate to deposit silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and form a crystalline system. This nanosystem showed increased permeability and has the potential to be used as a nanocarrier for cancer therapy.
