Summary: The study suggests that albumin acts as a tumor suppressor in hepatocellular carcinoma, influencing the invasion and metastasis of HCC; Experimental results show that lack of albumin significantly promotes invasion and migration of HCC; 210 differentially expressed proteins were identified in relation to albumin silencing.

Summary: This study identified potential serum biomarkers for predicting hemorrhagic transformation (HT) after ischemic stroke by analyzing differences in protein levels in 37 acute ischemic stroke patients. Further analysis indicated that these differentially expressed proteins may interact to contribute to the development of HT.

Summary: This study identified alterations in protein levels within circulating exosomes in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Increased levels of von Willebrand factor and proteasome subunit beta type-2, as well as decreased levels of cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide, were observed. The study also provided evidence that cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide may act as a tumor suppressor in HCC.

Summary: Accurate proteome quantitation is crucial for understanding cellular and physiological processes. A novel al ion-based proteome quantitation (APQ) method is proposed, which demonstrates high accuracy and precision. This method effectively eliminates interference and allows simultaneous measurement of proteome across multiple samples. Applying APQ, differentially expressed proteins related to fatty acid degradation were found during a TGF-beta-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition process.

Summary: Protein quantitation via mass spectrometry requires the use of peptide proxies, and accurate quantitation often relies on the addition of an external standard. AlacatDesigner is a tool that assists in selecting suitable peptide candidates for recombinant protein standards. It considers factors such as target protein, existing databases, literature occurrence, potential post-translational modifications, and ionization potential within the mass spectrometer.

Summary: A new calibration approach has been developed to obtain absolute isotope ratios of multi-isotopic elements by comparing the instrumental isotope fractionation of different mass spectrometers. The theory was tested on Cd and Pb isotope ratios, showing results compatible with certified ratios but with a slight bias that needs improvement. The method is universal and can be applied to all elements with three or more isotopes, providing information on the fractionation process itself.

Summary: This study investigates the role of TSPANs in GBM by analyzing gene expression and clinical data. The results show that TSPANs are upregulated in GBM and are closely associated with prognosis, mutation status, recurrence, age, and tumor grade. The study also reveals the potential contribution of TSPANs in cell adhesion, migration, and tumor microenvironment formation.

Summary: This study found that overexpression of cardiac-specific Hresistin is sufficient to cause cardiac dysfunction and remodeling. Activation of Hresistin triggers inflammation in heart tissues and leads to right ventricular hypertrophy and failure. However, the researchers also discovered that protection from hypertrophy and failure can be achieved by generating an anti-Hresistin human antibody.
