Summary: A novel task-specific ionic liquid was synthesized via click chemistry and its performance in the selective separation of trivalent americium from lanthanide was studied. The results showed that the ionic liquid exhibited stronger extractability to Am(III) over Eu(III) and a cation exchange mechanism was proposed. This study provides valuable insights into the coordination chemistry of f-elements in ionic liquids and the potential of task-specific ionic liquids in actinide/lanthanide separation.

Summary: A green, efficient and easy method combining magnetic ionic liquid-based liquid-liquid microextraction (MIL-based LLME) with ultraperformance liquid chromatography coupled with triple-quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-QqQ/ MS2) was developed for simultaneous determination of neurotransmitters (NTs) in biosamples. The selected magnetic ionic liquid [P6,6,6,14]2[CoCl4] showed advantages of visual recognition, paramagnetic behavior and higher extraction efficiency. The proposed method achieved facile magnetic separation of MIL containing analytes from matrix and successfully extracted and determined 20 NTs in human cerebrospinal fluid and plasma samples. The excellent analytical performance suggests the broad potential of this method for clinical diagnosis and therapy of neurological diseases.

Summary: In this study, we have improved the automatic sample injection system for pillar array columns by substituting the autosampler with a syringe pump. This change has overcome the problem of sample dilution during injection, leading to increased analytical reproducibility. The improved system decreased the relative standard deviation (RSD) of peak height to the range 1.2-1.8%, and good reproducibility was confirmed through the evaluation using five types of amino acids. The developed sample injection method can be applied as a simple quantitative analysis method for biological sample analyses using pillar array columns.

Summary: The study suggests that subtle changes in post-transcriptional modifications may regulate central nervous system plasticity and activity-induced protein synthesis. Using mass spectrometry, researchers found unique RNA modification patterns in neurons during learning processes, with two tRNA modifications showing significantly higher levels in trained animals. This indicates a link between noncoding RNA modifications and non-associative learning.
