A highly efficient copper catalyzed remote C - H nitration of 8-amidoquinolines has been developed using tert-butyl nitrite as nitrating agent. 5 mol% of catalyst under room temperature furnished the products in excellent yields for arene, heteroarene, aliphatic carboxamide derivatives.
