Summary: In this study, amino functionalized magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MMWCNT-NH2) were prepared via a facile one-pot solvothermal method, and their sorptive removal efficiency of the anionic dye Congo red (CR) from water was investigated. The composite with triethylenetetramine showed higher removal efficiency due to its higher content of amino groups. Characterization analyses confirmed its excellent magnetic separation property and successful introduction of amino groups on MMWCNTs. The adsorption process followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and a three-stage diffusion mechanism was observed. The adsorption performance of MMWCNT-NH2-3 showed significant improvement after amino functionalization, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 322.7 mg/g. Selective adsorption of anionic dye was achieved due to electrostatic attraction and electron donor-acceptor interaction. The prepared MMWCNT-NH2-3 exhibited excellent reusability performance and could be a promising adsorbent for the removal of anionic dye from wastewater.

Summary: PEI@cotton was functionalized with polyamine polymer by a facile and eco-friendly method, which showed superior adsorption performance for removing negatively charged organic dye pollutants compared to untreated cotton fiber. The adsorption of dyes by PEI@cotton followed the Langmuir model, and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model described the adsorption data well. The material can be regenerated multiple times without significant loss of performance, making it a promising candidate for rapid and efficient removal of negatively charged dyes from aqueous solutions.

Summary: Four types of nanocellulosic materials with different functional groups were used to disperse multiwalled carbon nanotubes, resulting in composite electrodes with excellent stability and electrochemical properties in different electrolytes. Anionic fibrillar nanocellulosic composites showed strong electrostatic and physical enrichment effects, while denser crystalline composites did not exhibit such behavior. This study provides insights for developing customizable nanocellulose/carbon nanomaterial hybrid platforms for various electrochemical applications.

Summary: Reverse osmosis is the most widely used strategy in membrane technology. This study focuses on improving the performance of thin-film membranes by modifying the surface characteristics of support layers. Different membranes were fabricated using interfacial polymerization, with varying concentrations of multiwalled carbon nanotubes and ethanol. The results showed that the membrane with a selective layer of PA-EtOH 30% exhibited the best salt rejection, while the membrane with PA-MWCNTs 0.15% had the lowest salt rejection due to its hydrophobic nature.

Summary: In this study, a sandwich sensing platform was developed using silica-coated silver nanoparticles as a luminescent material and cerium dioxide as a signal quencher for sensitive neuro-specific enolase detection. The core-shell structure protected the silver nanoparticles and improved their luminescence properties. Amino-functionalized cerium dioxide efficiently diminished the luminescence signal, resulting in a highly sensitive and accurate detection mode. This detection strategy showed a powerful capability for biomolecule detection.
