Summary: Fe-containing oxides can serve as excellent supports for precious metal catalysts. In this study, MgFe2O4 and La-added MgFe2O4 were investigated as supports for noble metal catalysts. La addition increased structural disorder, suppressed grain growth, affected pore size, and increased specific surface area. Pd-loaded La-MgFe2O4 showed higher CO oxidation activity than a Pd/γ-Al2O3 catalyst, with enhanced reactivity of surface lattice oxygen and formation of CO2.

Summary: This study designs a novel core-shell structured catalyst, comprised of Rhodium nanoparticles (Rh NPs) homogeneously encapsulated in a silicalite-1 zeolite (Rh@S-1), for 1-hexene hydroformylation. The catalyst exhibits a high conversion of 1-hexene up to 85.8%, and a ratio of n-heptanal to iso-heptanal reaching 2.5 at 90 degrees C. The outstanding catalytic activity of this core-shell structured catalyst can be explained by the highly active homogeneously dispersed Rh NPs and the distinguishable mass transfer effect of the unique and orderly micropores structure of silicalite-1 zeolite.

Summary: This study explores the incorporation of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and ammonium bicarbonate (NH4HCO3) as additives to efficiently control the particle size and framework titanium content of titanium silicate-1 (TS-1) zeolite crystals. The results show that the addition of PVA and NH4HCO3 significantly decreases the particle size and increases the framework titanium content, leading to improved catalytic activity in phenol hydroxylation.

Summary: This study focuses on the catalytic properties of ruthenium catalysts supported on modified silicalite-1 with basic centers created by post-synthesis modification. The modification not only affected the basicity and porosity of the supports, but also improved the catalytic activity for CO2 methanation. The results demonstrated that ruthenium supported on silicalite-1 treated with 1.0 M NaOH showed superior catalytic performance compared to unmodified and KOH-modified silicalite-1 supported Ru catalysts.

Summary: Binary TiO2/SiO2 oxides were synthesized as supports for a Pt catalyst, with varying mole ratios of silica. Increasing the TiO2 : SiO2 ratio led to changes in specific surface area, crystal structure, and defect sites, affecting the catalytic performance for formic acid oxidation under dark conditions and following UV light pre-treatment. The Pt/1TiO(2)-2SiO(2) catalyst exhibited the highest catalytic rate, attributed to the simultaneous presence of PtOads and defect sites following UV-light pre-treatment.

Summary: The focus of the ongoing global energy transformation is on hydrogen production in the ethanol steam reforming (ESR) process. Researchers have successfully developed a cobalt catalyst based on the ZSM-5 zeolite support, and analyzed its performance using various physicochemical characterization methods and real-time UV-Vis and FT-IR spectroscopy studies in the ESR conditions. The influence of potassium introduction and the impact of zeolite acidity on the cobalt phase oxidation state were also investigated. The study results challenge the existing paradigm of low activity and stability of zeolite-based ESR catalysts, and provide hope for the development of competitive catalysts.

Summary: The live-streaming industry in China is huge and highly competitive, leading to the formation of "live-streaming guilds" where streamers join forces to improve their rankings on various platforms. This article explores one such guild that operates on the Zhubei platform, revealing how these guilds optimize streamers' performances based on algorithmic parameters disclosed by the platforms. Interestingly, the guilds also manipulate audience reactions by having male workers pose as female streamers to attract generous tipping from straight male viewers.

Summary: The Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is increasingly popular in uncertainty analysis of hydrological simulation. However, the estimation of the constant standard deviation (02) in the approach is subjective, hindering performance improvement. This study investigates the statistical meaning of parameter 02 and develops a new label called Confidence Level of Model (CLM) to interpret it. The MCMC method based on CLM performs well in generating regular posterior distributions and narrow, symmetrical confidence intervals.

Summary: The purpose of this study is to develop a simple ligand-exchange strategy to promote the nano-sintering of oleylamine (OAM)-capped silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). By using NH4OH in the ligand exchange process to remove OAM from the surface of AgNPs, the sintering temperature of AgNPs can be effectively reduced to achieve low-temperature nano-sintering. The NH4OH-treated AgNPs show superior sintering performance compared to untreated AgNPs and can be applied in fractional generator devices and flexible circuit modules.

Summary: Researchers have successfully designed and synthesized a three-dimensional structured catalyst of nickel-cobalt sulfide composite decorated on carbon fiber paper, which shows high activity and stability for the oxygen evolution reaction. The excellent catalytic performance of the nanocomposite can be attributed to its large exposed active sites, firm anchoring on the substrate, improved catalytic performance by mixed valence of Ni or Co, and efficient electron and ion transmission. This study provides a simple and economical method to obtain high-performance and robust oxygen evolution reaction catalysts.

Summary: The study found that LIF is the most upregulated IL6 family member in human and mouse renal fibrotic lesions. Clinical data showed that baseline urinary levels of LIF in CKD patients can predict the risk of CKD progression to end-stage kidney disease. Summary: The study aimed to investigate the anti-tumor effects and underlying mechanisms of Enzalutamide (ENZ) and Arsenic trioxide (ATO) co-treatment on castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). The combination of ENZ and ATO significantly inhibited cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and induced cell arrest and apoptosis in C4-2B cells. The effects were further verified in subcutaneous tumor models and tissue sections from the xenografts. ENZ combination with ATO synergistically improved the therapeutic effects and suppressed CRPC progression through regulation of the ATR-CHEK1-CDC25C pathway.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of board culture on bank innovation and explores the mechanisms involved. Using the cultural context of the East and state-owned bank attributes, data from China's A-share listed banks between 2003 and 2018 were analyzed. Results indicate that indicators of masculinity, indulgence, and cultural diversity are positively correlated with bank innovation, while power distance and uncertainty avoidance are negatively correlated. Further analysis reveals that the impact of Oriental culture on bank innovation is mediated by human capital investment, efficiency, and risk-taking. The findings remain robust after controlling for endogenous issues and factors such as Confucian culture.
