Summary: Standard statistical methods without considering the complexity of survey design can lead to erroneous inferences when applied to survey data. This article proposes a unified approach to hypothesis testing that does not require estimated covariance matrices or design effects. Instead, bootstrap approximations to quasi-likelihood ratio statistics and quasi-score statistics are used. The proposed method can be easily implemented for complex survey sampling without specific software. Simulation studies show that the proposed approach has Type I error rates closer to the nominal significance level compared to other methods.

Summary: In this article, a profile likelihood ratio test (PLRT) based on the estimated error density for the multiple linear regression model is developed, which outperforms existing likelihood ratio tests in terms of type I error rates, powers, performance in the absence of error moments, and correct model selection in multiple testing problems. The proposed PLRT is illustrated with analysis of mammalian eye gene expression dataset and concrete compressive strength dataset.

Summary: This paper investigates the statistical inference for the odds ratio of two proportions in bilateral correlated data, proposing three test procedures and four confidence interval constructions. Experimental results show that the score test is more robust and has higher power compared to other tests, with the score confidence interval having a shorter interval width and a coverage probability closer to 0.95.

Summary: This paper addresses the detection of point-like target fusion in a partially homogeneous environment using distributed MIMO radar. A hybrid-order Gaussian (HOG) model is employed to deal with imperfect waveform separation, and two adaptive detectors named HOG-GLRT and HOG-Wald are developed based on the GLRT and Wald test, respectively. Additionally, two modified fusion detectors MHOG-GLRT and MHOG-Wald are proposed to handle the problem of SNR diversity. Numerical simulation results demonstrate that HOG-GLRT is sensitive to waveform residuals, while HOG-Wald exhibits strong robustness. Moreover, MHOG-GLRT and MHOG-Wald are effective in extreme SNR diversity scenarios.

Summary: This paper introduces robust variants of Wald, Rao and LR tests for detecting a signal subspace, which can adjust the trade-off between robustness and power using a single hyperparameter alpha. It is shown that when alpha -> 1, these tests are equivalent to their classical counterparts.

Summary: The problem of model selection in regression analysis has been well studied through methods like forward selection, backward elimination, and stepwise selection. This paper aims to examine the properties of these procedures in generalized linear regression models, with the normal linear regression model as a special case. The score test is used as the main tool, while other large sample tests such as the F test, likelihood ratio test, and Wald test, as well as AIC and BIC, are included for comparison. Simulation studies are conducted to evaluate the properties of these procedures for symmetric and asymmetric distributions, including normal, Poisson, and binomial regression models. Extensions for skewed distributions and over-dispersed Poisson and binomial regression models are also evaluated. Two health datasets are analyzed using these methods.

Summary: In this paper, partial coherence is used to evaluate Granger-Geweke (GG) causality of one signal sequence on another. The key idea is to establish a connection between questions of GG causality and questions of partial coherence. By using a scale-invariant partial coherence statistic, the paper resolves the question of GG causality, which is demonstrated to be a likelihood ratio with a null distribution of Wilks Lambda. Numerical experiments validate the application of partial coherence to the resolution of Granger causal influence, without depending on a generative model for causality.

Summary: Using simulations with a random-intercept LMM structure, this study examines Type I error rates of LRT and Wald test with different degrees of freedom choices across varying combinations of cluster size, number of clusters, and ICC. Results indicate that the LRT may be anti-conservative in certain scenarios, while Wald tests with specific DF methods can maintain Type I error control.

Summary: This paper focuses on the adaptive detection of point-like targets under clutter and noise cover pulse (NCP) jamming. Different detectors such as NCP-GLRT, NCP-Wald, and NCP-Rao are designed based on generalized likelihood ratio test, Wald, and Rao criteria. Furthermore, a modified detector called NCP-MRao is proposed to improve the degraded detection performance of NCP-Rao. The numerical simulation results demonstrate that the proposed detector outperforms analogous counterparts in terms of detection performance.

Summary: The main objective of this article is to use the logistic regression model to identify factors influencing academic tripping at the University of Tabuk. The study found that the educational and academic factors, as well as family and economic factors, were the most important factors affecting student's academic tripping. These factors include mismatched speciality, difficulty understanding lectures, academic workload, participation in extracurricular activities, differences in educational systems, and irregular college bursary.

Summary: Eckert and Vach (2020) emphasized the importance of confidence and comparison regions as tools for visualizing uncertainty in two-dimensional estimates. These regions can be constructed using Wald or likelihood-ratio tests. The confcomptwo package in Stata enables users to draw both types of regions for a variety of two-dimensional estimation problems. The usefulness of confcomptwo is demonstrated through several examples.

Summary: This study examined whether personality vulnerability, specifically self-critical perfectionism or dependency, can predict the trajectory, variability, and instability of symptoms during cognitive behaviour therapy for depression. Results indicated that higher baseline self-critical perfectionism was associated with lower likelihood of symptom improvement over time. Additionally, self-critical perfectionism was found to impact the variability and acceleration of depression symptoms.
