Summary: The superhydrophobic photonic composite with angle-independent structural colors and self-healing capability is reported. Its long-term stability, self-cleaning property, and vivid structural colors make it suitable for large-area antifouling and coloring coatings. The reversible hydrogen bonds provide the composite with self-healing ability and mechanical durability for practical applications in biomimetic decorative materials and wearable devices.

Summary: The solubility issues of polypyrrole (PPy) as a conductive polymer have been improved by grafting pH and temperature responsive polymers on the surface of PPy nanoparticles through surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP). The synthesized smart particles exhibited dual pH-sensitive and thermoresponsive behavior, with snowman-like and dumbbell-like Janus structures observed in the morphology. The accuracy of synthesis was confirmed through various spectroscopy and microscopy techniques.

Summary: Stimuli-responsive structurally dynamic polymers have gained significant attention due to their potential applications and ability to exhibit various responses such as self-healing and shape-morphing. This review article focuses on recent advances and challenges in the development of dynamic polymers, specifically dynamic self-healing polymers, shape-memory polymers, and liquid crystal elastomers. The authors discuss the chemistry strategies and dynamic reaction mechanisms that enhance the materials' performances, including self-healing, reprocessing, and reprogramming. The article also provides an outline of unresolved issues and future perspectives in this field.

Summary: The principles for the selection of the stereo-chemistry of phospholipids of biological membranes are still unclear, and new experiments in this field can help make progress. Three libraries of glycerol-amphiphilic Janus dendrimers (JDs) were synthesized to study the self-assembly of these molecules and the formation of dendrimersomes (DSs). The results showed that non-symmetric homochiral JDs mainly formed unilamellar DSs, while racemic JDs favored multilamellar DSs, indicating a new rationale for chiral selection and suggesting the preference for symmetric achiral lipid assemblies in prebiotic cell membranes.

Summary: Through extensive coarse-grained simulations, we modeled interphase chromosome structures as colloidal particles grafted with cyclic polymers. These simulations revealed that the polymer-grafted colloidal system can provide well-separated particle distribution without specific attraction between the chain monomers. The results also showed that the organization of chromosomal regions can be altered by varying the polymerization degree and introducing DNA breaks, providing insights into the 3D genome architecture.

Summary: A series of Leu-loaded self-healing conductive hydrogels were prepared for skeletal muscle tissue engineering. These hydrogels exhibited self-healing properties, antioxidant activity, suitable modulus, good electrical conductivity, high porosity, and proper swelling ratio. In addition, they had good cytocompatibility and provided a 3D culture environment for C2C12 and hADSC cells. The Leu-loaded hydrogel had the ability to recruit cells and promote myogenic differentiation of C2C12 cells. Moreover, these hydrogels showed sustained cell delivery, good in vivo degradability, and enhanced skeletal muscle regeneration in a rat tibialis anterior muscle defect model.

Summary: The application of single chain mean-field theory on semiflexible chain brushes is reviewed, focusing on the worm-like chain model. SCMFT is found to be more applicable to the WLC model than the commonly used GC model due to different algorithmic complexities. In SCMFT, the ensemble average of quantities is obtained by sampling chain conformations, with precision controlled by the number of bonds and conformations used.
