Summary: Regulating both chirality and nanostructure in supramolecular gel is significant and challenging. In this study, a supramolecular hydrogel system was prepared using a low-molecule-weight-gelator C4AzoGlu in aqueous solution, showing supramolecular chirality and a structure of nanotwists. The transition of supramolecular chirality, morphology, and phase in the system can be realized by photoirradation, providing insights to the chiroptical property and morphology transition.

Summary: A novel one-dimensional supramolecular polymer was successfully constructed from 4-(4-(1-benzyl-pyridinium)styryl)-1-methyl-pyridinium chloride guest molecule and a host CB[8], characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. Interestingly, the supramolecular polymers can transform into synergistic covalent and supramolecular polymers when irradiated with visible light, due to irreversible polymerization induced by [2+2] photodimerization controlled by cucurbit[8]uril (CB[8]).

Summary: Chiral supramolecular polymers were successfully constructed through the host-guest complexation of an octaphosphonate biscavitand and a chiral diammonium guest. The complexation was found to be enthalpy-and entropy-favored with high binding constants. Various experimental techniques confirmed the occurrence of supramolecular polymerization, most likely through a ring-chain mechanism. Atomic force microscopy visualized the cyclic oligomers and supramolecular polymer chains. Circular dichroism was observed, indicating the formation of chirally twisted supramolecular polymers.

Summary: Supramolecular polymers and materials are designed and prepared using macromolecular recognition by cyclodextrins as host parts, leading to the creation of various structures such as polyrotaxanes, tubular polymers, supramolecular machines, and artificial polymerases. Different types of recognition, such as main-chain recognition and side-chain recognition, result in unique properties such as macroscopic self-assembly, self-healing, sol-gel transition, and muscle-like materials.

Summary: Over 6.2 million people worldwide suffer from moderate to severe vision loss due to corneal disease. While transplantation with allogenic donor tissue is sight-restoring for many patients with corneal blindness, this treatment modality is limited by long waiting lists and high rejection rates. Host-guest interactions have emerged as an important crosslinking strategy for cytocompatible, minimally invasive, injectable tissue substitutes.

Summary: In this study, a sequential self-assembly and self-coacervation strategy was proposed to achieve water-triggered robust underwater bonding to both abiotic materials and biological tissues. The embedded polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) cages served as rigid and hydrophobic segments, enabling conformation variation capacity of the hybrid polymer. The adhesive solidified and exhibited universal underwater adhesion through the aggregation of POSS clusters and self-coacervation behavior upon contact with water.

Summary: Conductive hydrogels with excellent mechanical properties are essential for flexible electronics and soft robots, but their limited self-healing and poor toughness hinder their practical application. In this study, a super-stretchable and self-healing LM hydrogel is developed by utilizing gallium indium alloy as flexible fillers. The LM hydrogel exhibits outstanding properties, including high stretchability, toughness, notch resistance, and self-healing ability. Additionally, the LM hydrogel shows sensitive strain sensing behavior and infrared camouflage potential, promoting its application in intelligent devices and military fields.

Summary: A mechanically reliable, exceptional-performance and anti-freezing all-solid-state supercapacitor has been constructed using a highly ionic conductive double-network (DN) hydrogel electrolyte, powerful Ti3C2Tx MXene film electrode, and carbon nanotube film current collector. The supercapacitor shows extraordinary capacitive performance, structural reliability, and electrochemical stability even under severe damages, with low internal resistance and eminent stress dissipation. This study paves the way for developing ultrahigh-performance and freezing-tolerant supercapacitors for wearable power sources against severe mechanical damage.
