The research on the supramolecular hyperbranched polymers (SHPs) that combines the advantages of supramolecular polymer and hyperbranched architecture has attracted considerable interests in many applications. Here we demonstrate a simple approach to prepare POSS-embedded supramolecular hyperbranched polymers (POSS-SHPs) with varied morphology and size by controlling monomer concentration and mixed solvents. The SHPs formations can further transfer into the core-shell structured micelles by addition of competitive guests based on the double supramolecular driving forces.

Sequential self-assembly and self-coacervation actuate water-triggered robust bonding: From universal underwater adhesion to on-demand detachable bioadhesion

Summary: In this study, a sequential self-assembly and self-coacervation strategy was proposed to achieve water-triggered robust underwater bonding to both abiotic materials and biological tissues. The embedded polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) cages served as rigid and hydrophobic segments, enabling conformation variation capacity of the hybrid polymer. The adhesive solidified and exhibited universal underwater adhesion through the aggregation of POSS clusters and self-coacervation behavior upon contact with water.

Summary: Conductive hydrogels with excellent mechanical properties are essential for flexible electronics and soft robots, but their limited self-healing and poor toughness hinder their practical application. In this study, a super-stretchable and self-healing LM hydrogel is developed by utilizing gallium indium alloy as flexible fillers. The LM hydrogel exhibits outstanding properties, including high stretchability, toughness, notch resistance, and self-healing ability. Additionally, the LM hydrogel shows sensitive strain sensing behavior and infrared camouflage potential, promoting its application in intelligent devices and military fields.

Junbo Peng, Manhua Zhou, Yafei Gao, Jianfeng Wang, Yanxia Cao, Wanjie Wang, Decheng Wu, Yanyu Yang

Summary: A mechanically reliable, exceptional-performance and anti-freezing all-solid-state supercapacitor has been constructed using a highly ionic conductive double-network (DN) hydrogel electrolyte, powerful Ti3C2Tx MXene film electrode, and carbon nanotube film current collector. The supercapacitor shows extraordinary capacitive performance, structural reliability, and electrochemical stability even under severe damages, with low internal resistance and eminent stress dissipation. This study paves the way for developing ultrahigh-performance and freezing-tolerant supercapacitors for wearable power sources against severe mechanical damage.
