Summary: The composition of ethanol extract from Rumex tianschanicus roots was studied to determine its antiulcer activity. The extract was found to contain abundant polyphenolic compounds, with anthraquinones, flavonoids, and tannins being the most abundant. Major components of the polyphenol fraction were identified using various chromatography and spectroscopy techniques. The extract showed a preventive and therapeutic effect in an experimental model of rat gastric ulcer induced by indomethacin.

Summary: The viral hemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV) is shown to cause high mortalities in Atlantic herring. Two VHSV genotypes (Ib and III) from Norway and Denmark have been tested, and it is found that genotype Ib has a high prevalence and mortality rate, suggesting a negative impact on wild Atlantic herring stocks. Further research is needed to understand how VHSV affects wild Atlantic herring stocks.

Summary: Cetacean morbillivirus (CeMV) was found to have a prevalence of 27.5% in non-epizootic conditions in a world heritage site in Southern Brazil, with interstitial pneumonia and non-suppurative encephalitis as main pathological findings. The study used a combination of pathological, immunohistochemical, and molecular assays to investigate CeMV occurrence under non-epizootic circumstances, shedding light on the virus's behavior in such conditions.

Summary: This study investigates the use of PD-L1 mRNA level as a predictive biomarker for nonresponse to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in lung cancer patients. The results show that high levels of PD-L1 and PD-L2 mRNA are associated with improved long-term benefit and overall survival, while low PD-L1 mRNA level has a high negative predictive value for absence of long-term benefit.

Summary: Gastric ulcer, a chronic disease affecting 10% of the world's population, can be effectively treated with metal nanoparticles and metal oxide nanoparticles synthesized using the green method. These nanoparticles show promising results in the treatment of gastric ulcers, particularly those caused by H. pylori, ethanol, and NSAIDs.

Summary: A virus enzyme assay using a luciferin derivative as the substrate has been developed as an alternative method for detection of acute viral infection, particularly for influenza diagnosis. The assay showed similar detection rates for all influenza types and subtypes except for A(H7N9) due to lower viral titer. When tested with diluted specimens in comparison to a real-time polymerase chain reaction assay, the assay demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity.

Summary: Testing for the BRAF mutation is essential for managing patients with locally advanced or metastatic melanoma. Using molecular analysis based on DNA sequencing is the gold standard method for screening mutations. Comparison between the Idylla BRAF Mutation Test and anti-BRAF V600E immunohistochemistry showed a 91% agreement rate for the detection of BRAF V600E mutation.

Summary: A method for extracting viral RNA from raw oysters has been developed, showing high efficiency in removing RT-PCR inhibitors and reliably detecting viral contamination. The method outperformed the ISO 15216-1 method and showed comparable efficiency to Method E, with fewer steps and shorter hands-on time.

Summary: The study found that chitosan nanoparticles and chitosan silver nanocomposites can effectively inhibit the infection of pepper plants by AMV virus, improve the agronomic traits of the plants, and increase the content of active substances in the plants. These findings may provide an effective therapeutic measure for managing AMV and other related plant viruses.

Summary: Gastric ulcer is a common gastrointestinal disorder that affects about 10% of the world population. Synthetic drugs used for prevention have harmful effects, thus there is a need for improved drug candidates with minimal toxicity. Aegle marmelos, with its proven antibacterial and antiulcer properties, presents a promising herbal remedy for gastric ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infections and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It exerts its effects through inhibiting secretory factors and activating antioxidant processes.

Summary: Most RNA-based COVID-19 diagnostic methods use enzymatic amplification for high sensitivity but rely on arbitrary thresholding. This study introduces a solid-state nanopore sensing technology for label-free quantification of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in clinical nasal swab samples. The method allows for ratiometric quantification of RNA abundance through single-molecule counting and length-based nanopore identification of dsDNA. The results show that this approach can provide quantitative positive outcomes in clinical samples classified as negative by RT-qPCR.
