Mesoporous ZnCo2O4-ZnO hybrid nanotube arrays are prepared by a diffusion-controlled solid-solid approach and applied as anodes for lithium-ion batteries. Due to the unique hierarchical hollow structure, the ZnCo2O4-ZnO hybrid arrays exhibit a large reversible capacity up to 1145 mAh g(-1) as well as good rate capability (433 mAh g(-1) at a current density of 5 A g(-1)) and good cycle performance, making them promising as anodes for advanced lithium-ion batteries.
