Summary: Wound healing from bacterial infections is a challenge, especially with the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. This study explored the antibacterial effects of silver nanoparticles and Ag+ on Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The results showed that both silver nanoparticles and Ag+ had excellent antibacterial effects in vitro, but in vivo, silver nanoparticles showed better antibacterial effects.

Summary: The current work is a continuation of our studies on the application of metallic silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) to combat antibiotic resistance globally. Fieldwork involving 200 breeding cows with serous mastitis revealed that treatment with Dienomast (TM), an antibiotic-containing drug, reduced E. coli sensitivity to 31 antibiotics by 27.3%, while treatment with AgNPs increased it by 21.2%. This study contributes to efforts in restoring antibiotic efficacy and preserving the availability of antibiotics in the global market.

Summary: This study analyzed the impact of different silver nanoparticles on the development and metastatic potential of breast cancer using a mouse model. The results showed that citrate-coated silver nanoparticles had a significant effect on reducing tumor volume and lung metastases in mice treated intragastrically. However, no effect on lung metastases was observed after intravenous administration of silver nanoparticles. The findings suggest that the anticancer activity of silver nanoparticles may depend on the activation of the immune system.

Summary: The study focused on the morphological transformation of curcumin nanoparticles in cancerous cells, showing that curcumin nanorods exhibited slightly stronger anticancer activity and apoptosis compared to nanospheres. This suggests that morphological variation may influence apoptotic cell death despite the surface charge.

Summary: Thin film coatings with potent antibacterial properties are widely used in medical devices, frequently touched surfaces, and food packaging. However, achieving antibacterial performance under both light and dark conditions remains a challenge. In this study, we successfully prepared AgBr-coated ZnO nanorod thin film architecture using a unique surfactant-mediated solution-phase spin-coating approach. The resulting structures showed dual functionality as antimicrobial agents and photosensitizers, effectively enhancing the visible-light photodisinfection efficacy of ZnO nanorods. The concentration of the surfactant-based precursor solution could be modulated to control the AgBr content. Additionally, components like urea and lactic acid were found to enhance the photocatalytic efficiency of the structures.
