Summary: Malnutrition is a significant factor affecting the progression and mortality of cancer patients. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between different nutritional strategies, phase angle, and handgrip strength in cancer patients and their impact on other nutritional status indicators. The systematic review of randomized clinical trials showed that different nutritional strategies led to significant increases in phase angle and handgrip strength, suggesting their potential use in nutritional and functional assessment of patients.

Summary: Studies suggest that PhA may be lower in individuals/patients with obesity, with higher mean values in men compared to women. Longitudinal studies show a significant decrease in PhA after bariatric surgery and a slight increase after training programs.

Summary: Impaired BCAA catabolism is strongly associated with chronic inflammation and tissue damage in T2DM, and this effect is at least partly due to the BCKAs-induced macrophage oxidative stress. Targeting BCAA catabolism is a potential strategy to attenuate T2DM and its complications.

Summary: Mendelian randomization analysis revealed a causal association between genetically predicted type 2 diabetes and retinal vein occlusion (RVO) risk. This association was supported by sensitivity analyses and multivariable analyses, and consistent results were obtained from an independent validation dataset.

Summary: The purpose of this analysis was to investigate the associations between serum uric acid and phase angle in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The study found that there was a significant association between serum uric acid and phase angle, and the phase angle increased as serum uric acid increased. However, this association disappeared when uric acid exceeded a certain value.

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) and bioimpedance phase angle (PhA) score. The study found that females with HT had significantly lower PhA scores, indicating that the inflammatory process in this autoimmune disease has an influence on cellular health and on the function of the entire body.

Summary: This study found that BIA-derived PhA is associated with 90-day mortality in critically ill children, with a low PhA being correlated with a prolonged duration of medical ventilation.

Summary: This study aimed to clarify the possible association between phase angle (PhA) and skeletal muscle myosteatosis. The results showed a positive correlation between leg PhA and skeletal muscle mass index (SMI) in middle-aged to older adults, suggesting that PhA could provide additional information for evaluating muscle properties.

Summary: This study used NaPB to lower plasma BCAA levels in patients with T2D and found that it improved peripheral insulin sensitivity, muscle mitochondrial oxidative capacity, and whole-body insulin-stimulated carbohydrate oxidation while reducing plasma BCAA and glucose levels.

Summary: Type 2 diabetes accounts for nearly 90% of global diabetes cases, with an increasing number of affected individuals, particularly among young people. Early detection and proactive management are crucial for preventing complications and reducing mortality. Technology and precision medicine offer potential improvements to treatment outcomes but face significant barriers.

Summary: This study aimed to develop reference values of hand grip strength (HGS) in Italian women with different BMI ranges and identified the main predictors of HGS. The results showed that HGS exhibited different trends with increasing age in different age groups. Multivariate linear regression analysis revealed variations in the main predictors of HGS among different BMI tertiles.

Summary: The study showed that Tirzepatide was both noninferior and superior to Semaglutide in terms of the mean change in glycated hemoglobin levels for patients with type 2 diabetes over 40 weeks. Additionally, reductions in body weight were greater with Tirzepatide compared to Semaglutide, with similar rates of gastrointestinal adverse events reported in both groups.
