Summary: This study identified flavonols from Vaccinium macrocarpon through HPLC-MS, and prepared nanoparticles using highly crosslinked keratin and silver. The nanocomposites were found to protect rat INS-1 pancreatic beta-cells from H2O2-induced oxidative damage, apoptosis, and proliferation by reducing intracellular reactive oxygen species.

Summary: Studies have shown that miR-320a is increased in pancreatic beta cells in diabetes and can lead to dysfunction by promoting ROS levels, inhibiting proliferation, and inducing apoptosis. The target gene of miR-320a, MafF, plays a role in the dysfunction of pancreatic beta cells. These findings suggest that miR-320a may be a potential therapeutic target for diabetes.

Summary: This study found that GLS and GAB affect miRNAs and oxidative status in glioblastoma cells. Silencing GLS and overexpressing GAB altered certain miRNAs, as well as oxidative status and antioxidant enzyme activity. Some miRNAs and total glutathione were identified as strong biomarkers of glioblastoma proliferation.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the activity of several enzymes related to oxidative stress and the concentration of glutathione in the circadian rhythm. The results showed that the activity of these enzymes and the concentration of glutathione peaked at 2 a.m. during sleep. This suggests that the processes maintaining the redox balance are intensified during sleep, thus reducing oxidative stress.

Specific physiological and biochemical traits were identified as predominant for tuber yield under salt stress, providing insights for further genetic and molecular studies on salt tolerance in potato.

Long-term use of minocycline may cause skin hyperpigmentation. Research indicates that minocycline induces oxidative stress in human melanocytes but can also increase cell viability and mitigate oxidative stress when exposed to hydrogen peroxide and UVA radiation. Additionally, the different impact of minocycline on CAT activity compared to other tetracyclines may be attributed to the binding site location.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the toxicity of a mixture of five pharmaceutical drugs using Fontinalis antipyretica as a bioindicator and bioaccumulator. Results showed that only carbamazepine and irbesartan were accumulated by the species, with bioaccumulation levels increasing with exposure time. Antioxidant enzymes were sensitive to the drug mixture, with higher activity observed in plants exposed to higher concentrations. Chlorophyll content decreased in exposed plants, but photosynthetic activity was restored after 5 months. Morphological characteristics were less impacted by the treatment.

Summary: In this study, the immunotoxicity of silver nanoparticles on whiteleg shrimp was assessed by monitoring the activity of certain enzymes, as well as the changes in antioxidant capacity and oxidative damage markers. It was found that silver nanoparticles caused severe immunotoxicity in the hepatopancreas tissue of whiteleg shrimp through the suppression of certain enzymes and antioxidant capacity.
