Summary: This study investigates the application of phenolic acid nutraceuticals in cardiotonic drugs through the study of two new cocrystal forms of milrinone with syringic acid and gallic acid. The results show that the structural characteristics and aggregation motifs of these cocrystals have a significant impact on dissolution and permeability, leading to improved pharmacokinetic properties. The findings offer promising solid-state forms for milrinone and open up new possibilities for the application of nutraceutical phenolic acids in cardiotonic pharmaceutical cocrystals.

Summary: In this study, three novel pharmaceutical salts of cephalexin (CPX) were obtained and analyzed. These salts were found to crystallize in hydrated forms, and the formation was attributed to proton transfer from carboxylic or sulfonic counterions. Crystal structure analyses revealed that hydrogen bonding interactions among CPX, acidic guest molecules, and water molecules played a crucial role in the crystal stabilization. Furthermore, these salts exhibited higher solubility compared to the parent drug, providing an alternative option for drug formulation development and repurposing investigations.

Summary: New multicomponent crystals obtained by liquid-assisted grinding were characterized and studied for their crystal structures and dissolution properties. The results show that cocrystallization/salt formation significantly improved the solubility of active pharmaceutical ingredients and maintained the level of supersaturation in solution for an extended period.

Summary: This study successfully prepared three anhydrous cocrystals and three hydrate cocrystals using methods such as solvent-assisted grinding. The cocrystals were characterized through various techniques. The hydrogen bonding patterns between OBV and ECB in the cocrystals were similar to the ECB-benzoic acid cocrystal. The solubility and diffusion properties of the cocrystals were reduced compared to the native drug, mainly due to decreased concentration gradient and hydrophobic interactions.

Summary: Two polymorphic cocrystals of palmatine chloride with racemic hesperetin (Form I and Form II) were prepared and investigated, showing different supramolecular arrangements despite similar hydrogen-bonding interactions. Cocrystal formation decreases the solubility of palmatine chloride and improves the solubility of hesperetin, allowing for sustained release of palmatine chloride and enhanced release of hesperetin in pure water.

Summary: Chiral molecules pose challenges for the pharmaceutical industry as they exhibit different effects in chiral systems. The separation of chiral molecules is complex but can be achieved by creating an asymmetry in the thermodynamic system. This study developed a new chiral quantification method that can be applied to complex multicomponent chiral systems.

Summary: In this work, a stretchable, adhesive, and conductive hydrogel was prepared using gallic acid and Zn2+ through chemical cross-linking. The hydrogel exhibited high mechanical performance, excellent adhesive performance, enhanced ionic conductivity, and stable resistance changes under different external stimuli. The hydrogel-based wearable sensors demonstrated excellent sensing performance in detecting various human motions, making it a promising material for soft robots and healthcare monitoring.

Summary: This study examines the predictability of the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD), Hansen solubility parameter (HSP), and the conductor-like screening model for real solvents (COSMO-RS) methods in screening co-formers for minoxidil. The results confirm the efficiency of the CSD method and demonstrate that the COSMO-RS method performs much better than the HSP method.

Summary: This study focused on creating eutectic mixtures of quercetin and curcumin through mechanochemical treatment, showing that the mixtures exhibited superior antioxidant capacity compared to the pure components. Eutectic mixtures are therefore considered as an excellent option for enhancing the biological activity of natural antioxidant products or medicines.

Summary: The nucleation process of p-hydroxybenzoic acid:glutaric acid 1:1 cocrystal has been studied in stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric acetonitrile solutions. The cocrystal was found to be the nucleating phase, even in solutions that were supersaturated with respect to the pure solid phases. The nucleation of the cocrystal was more difficult than the pure compounds, but it was similar to the pure compound when the driving force was defined per reactant molecule.
