Summary: This study identified a novel oxidative stress-related long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) named CYLD-AS1, which showed increased expression in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells during oxidative stress. Depletion of CYLD-AS1 promoted cell proliferation and mitochondrial function and protected RPE cells against oxidative damage. CYLD-AS1 regulated the expression of NRF2 and NF-kappa B signaling pathway members, which are related to oxidative stress and inflammation. These effects were mediated by the interaction with miR-134-5p. Exosomes secreted by CYLD-AS1 knockdown RPE cells had a lower proinflammatory effect compared to control cells.

Summary: This study revealed that XIST promotes fibroblast proliferation and tendon adhesion formation through the miR-26a-5p/COX2 pathway. Overexpression of XIST upregulates the expression of alpha-SMA and Collagen I protein, while silencing XIST has the opposite effect. Inhibition of miR-26a-5p and overexpression of COX2 can reverse the effects of XIST silencing.

Summary: In recent years, significant progress has been made in bioinformatics with the discovery of functional non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs). These ncRNAs play a crucial role in regulating intracellular gene expression, assisting in diagnosis, guiding drug use, and determining prognosis in various diseases. MicroRNAs (miRNAs), long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and circular RNAs (circRNAs) are the three major types of ncRNAs that interact with each other. Studies have shown that lncRNAs and circRNAs can sponge miRNAs, influencing normal physiological processes and regulating mRNA expression, and ultimately affecting cellular physiology. This paper provides a summary of the mechanisms and research progress of these three ncRNAs and their potential implications in disease diagnosis, treatment, and drug development.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the role of lncRNA GAS5, miRNA-200, and ACE2 as new COVID-19 diagnostic markers capable of predicting the severity of SARS-CoV-2 complications. The results showed that GAS5 expression was down-regulated in COVID-19 patients, leading to overexpression of miR-200 and down-regulation of its target gene ACE2. The ROC curve analysis demonstrated that GAS5, miR-200, and ACE2 have high diagnostic accuracy and sensitivity and specificity.
