Summary: Chryseobacterium indologenes is a rare non-fermenting gram-negative pathogen that can cause nosocomial infections, with high intrinsic resistance to broad-spectrum antibiotics. This study presents the first reported case of C. indologenes infection in Lebanon, successfully treated with ciprofloxacin antibiotic.

Summary: A case report is presented of a COVID-19 patient who developed carbapenem-resistant Chryseobacterium indologenes bacteremia, with the detection of bla(CcrA) which is reported for the first time. Antimicrobial resistance is a challenge to global health during the COVID-19 pandemic, and further study and surveillance of underlying mechanisms are needed.

Summary: This study reported a case of Chryseobacterium indologenes infection in an oral abscess of a ball python, which completely recovered after antibiotic therapy. This suggests that C. indologenes may be an opportunistic animal pathogen with zoonotic potentiality.

Summary: This study explored the application value of lung ultrasound (LUS) in neonatal ventilator-associated pneumonia (NVAP). The results showed that LUS has higher accuracy and consistency in diagnosing and predicting the outcomes of pneumonia compared to chest X-ray. Therefore, LUS can be considered as the preferred imaging examination for NVAP.

Summary: The use of MEDI3902 antibody for prophylactic treatment has been shown to protect rabbits from Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection and reduce lung lesions and bacteremia. Compared to MEDI3902 treatment, rabbits treated with irrelevant control IgG exhibited severe pneumonia and systemic pathophysiological changes. These results suggest that MEDI3902 prophylaxis can decrease the severity of P. aeruginosa ventilator-associated pneumonia.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the frequency of carbapenem-resistance and the rates of MDR, XDR, and PDR in CR-GNB infections in VAP. The study found a high presence of carbapenem-resistance genes in the isolates, with bla(NDM) being the most predominant gene. All isolates exhibited high resistance to most antibiotics.

Summary: In this study, the pathogen causing the death of farmed Pelodiscus sinensis was isolated and identified as Chryseobacterium indologenes. Histopathological analysis revealed the pathological changes in tissues, and antibiotic susceptibility tests showed that the bacteria could be treated with certain antibiotics. These findings contribute to the future diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

Summary: The utility of endotracheal aspirates (ETA) for analyzing microbiological yield, incidence, risk factors for ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), and clinically relevant outcomes were explored in this study. It was found that gram-negative bacilli were the most common culture yield from ETA in neonates suspected to have VAP. Duration of ventilation and reintubations were identified as significant risk factors for VAP, which could be potentially modified to reduce VAP incidence. Positive ETA culture was associated with longer needs for respiratory supports, while negative ETA culture might encourage clinicians to stop antibiotics.

Summary: The loss of methylation in the ICR1 of chromosome 11p15.5 is common in Silver-Russell syndrome patients, leading to typical craniofacial features. Maternal uniparental disomy was found in some SRS patients, and detection of typical facial findings is effective in the diagnosis of SRS. In contrast, methylation patterns were not impaired in nonsyndromic IUGR patients. Metabolic problems such as hypercalciuria, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia were observed in both syndromic and nonsyndromic IUGR patients, emphasizing the importance of monitoring metabolic complications in patients with IUGR.

Summary: Intrauterine onset syndromic short stature is a rare and clinically and molecularly heterogeneous group of diseases. This study aimed to investigate the (epi)genetic causes in children born small for gestational age (SGA) with undiagnosed syndromic short stature. The study identified various genetic variants and copy number variants (CNVs) that contribute to syndromic SGA, including novel genes and CNVs. The study achieved a high diagnosis rate through the use of chromosomal microarray (CMA), epigenetic analysis, and whole exome sequencing (WES).
