Summary: Intensive-Care-Unit-Acquired Weakness (ICU-AW) is a common neuromuscular impairment in critically ill patients, and early rehabilitation can facilitate the recovery process. This study evaluated the effectiveness of intensive combined technological rehabilitation treatment for patients with severe acquired brain injury (sABI) and ICU-AW. The experimental group, receiving technological treatment, showed greater improvements in disability and quality of life compared to the conventional group. This highlights the effectiveness of intensive structured rehabilitation with virtual reality and muscle vibration for improving the well-being of patients with severe acquired brain injury and acquired weakness.

Summary: This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effects of omega-3 PUFA-enriched oral nutritional supplements on nutritional status and clinical outcomes in cancer patients undergoing chemo (radio) therapy. The results showed that these supplements can significantly increase body weight and BMI, elevate plasma levels of omega-3 fatty acids, reduce inflammatory indicators and the incidence of adverse events, but have no effect on plasma albumin levels.

Summary: This systematic review evaluated the impact of early oral feeding (EOF) compared to traditional timing of oral feeding following major upper gastrointestinal cancer surgery. The findings showed that EOF reduced postoperative length of stay without increasing complications, but did not provide clear conclusions on nutritional status and quality of life. Further research is needed to determine the optimal timing and type of EOF for UGI cancer patients.

Summary: This study compared complete and incomplete adherers to two separate components of a novel intervention package and found that complete adherers to the peer-led sessions had lower levels of psychological distress and higher levels of physical, emotional, and functional wellbeing before radiotherapy. Women's ability or motivation to engage with peer support may be influenced by their health and psychological status. The extent of intervention non-adherence to the peer-led component may have compromised the assessment of its efficacy. Women with complex care needs may prefer specialized care from trained professionals.

Summary: Ginger (Zingiber officinale) has potential therapeutic effects on chronic conditions and symptoms in humans, but there is a lack of simplified examination on the underlying mechanisms, hindering interpretation and translation to practice. This comprehensive review confirms the mechanisms of ginger, such as reducing inflammation, lowering blood pressure, regulating blood lipid profile, aiding glycemic control, weight management, and reducing nausea and vomiting. Further human trials are needed to confirm its other effects and understand its therapeutic effects better.
