Summary: Traditional Chinese medicines with hyperoside such as Acanthopanax senticosus and Crataegus pinnatifida have demonstrated anti-oxidative stress properties. Hyperoside, the main component of antioxidant herbs, may delay the onset of neurodegenerative diseases. This study investigated the therapeutic mechanism of hyperoside as a natural antioxidant against Alzheimer's disease in Caenorhabditis elegans and PC12 cells, showing its ability to reduce reactive oxygen species levels and neurotoxicity induced by A beta 42.

Summary: The present study aimed to demonstrate the effect and mechanism of hyperoside in Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity. Hyperoside attenuated the cardiac dysfunction and cardiomyocyte apoptosis induced by Doxorubicin, mainly through inhibiting the NOXs/ROS/NLRP3 inflammasome signaling pathway, which is related to oxidative stress.

Summary: Through in vitro and in vivo experiments, this study demonstrates for the first time that hyperoside can protect photoreceptors from oxidative stress-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and cell death, thereby reducing the degeneration of retinal projection cells and maintaining retinal homeostasis. These findings suggest that hyperoside has the potential to be a protective agent for the treatment of related photoreceptor degenerative diseases.

Summary: This study investigated the effect and mechanism of hyperoside, a natural flavonol glycoside, on renal tubulointerstitium in diabetic kidney disease. The results showed that hyperoside improved kidney function and reduced kidney tissue damage in mice, and inhibited oxidative stress, ERK1/2 signaling activation, and pyroptosis in human renal tubular epithelial cells. This study provides novel evidence for the clinical application of hyperoside in diabetic kidney disease treatment.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanisms underlying the effects of iron on the barrier function of human endothelium. The experimental results suggest that exposure to iron leads to endothelial cell elongation, upregulation of stress-induced proteins, and a dose-dependent drop in endothelial integrity. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and the role of low-grade inflammation were also investigated. The findings indicate that iron-induced damage to the vascular endothelium could contribute to increased cardiovascular risk.

Summary: Inhibition of Thioredoxin Reductase (TrxR) has been identified as a promising strategy to disrupt AML metabolism, as it impairs leukemic cell growth and leads to cell death. TrxR is a major regulator of metabolism in AML cells, impacting glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP). The combined inhibition of TrxR and PPP enhances leukemia growth inhibition, highlighting the potential of TrxR abrogation, particularly with S-250, as an effective therapeutic approach for AML.

Summary: In this study, it was found that cadmium exposure induced cell death in HepG2 cells via a ROS-mediated PERK-CHOP-related apoptotic signaling pathway, providing a novel insight into the mechanisms of cadmium-induced hepatotoxicity. Inhibitors targeting oxidative stress and ER stress might be potential strategies for preventing or treating this disorder.

Summary: Metformin can attenuate silica-induced pulmonary fibrosis by regulating oxidative stress and the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway. Daily administration of 100 mg/kg Metformin for 21 consecutive days effectively alleviates pulmonary fibrosis through activation of AMPK signaling and relief of oxidative stress and mitochondrial apoptosis.
