Summary: Aromatase inhibitors have shown promising clinical effectiveness in treating refractory endometriosis, particularly when other modalities have failed. Combined surgical and medical treatment modalities may be necessary for difficult cases, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team involving gynecologists, bowel surgeons, urologists, and interventional radiologists is crucial for effective management.

Summary: Female sex is a major risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD), with women having a higher prevalence compared to men. This article explores the role of gender differences in AD pathophysiology, onset, and progression, and highlights the associations between female reproductive health factors and AD risk.

Summary: This study found that aging in female mice is associated with increased tremor amplitude and decreased grip strength, while exposure to young ovarian tissues/cells can reverse these effects. These findings suggest the importance of investigating the impact of ovarian somatic tissue on health and propose tremor amplitude changes as an additional marker of biological age.

Summary: This study explored the sexual experiences of postmenopausal patients with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) in our setting. The results indicated a high rate of sexual dysfunction among postmenopausal patients with POP, suggesting an association between POP and female sexual dysfunction.

Summary: During aging and menopausal transition, women experience progressive muscle degeneration, leading to an increased risk of sarcopenia. Estradiol plays a crucial role in skeletal muscle function by stimulating satellite cell proliferation and limiting inflammatory stress damage. Estradiol Replacement Therapy, combined with nutrition and physical activity programs, can be a valuable tool in treating sarcopenia in women.

Summary: This study suggests that physical function in women declines with age and reproductive age. The decline in reproductive age is independent of chronological age, but does not seem to be driven by changes in reproductive hormones.

Summary: This study examines the association between menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) and cause-specific mortality. The results suggest that self-reported MHT use after early natural menopause, surgical menopause, or premenopausal hysterectomy is associated with a lower risk of breast cancer mortality but not consistently associated with mortality from cardiovascular disease or other causes.

Summary: The genetic architectures of circulating concentrations of estradiol, testosterone, and SHBG were investigated in women of European and African ancestry by menopausal status. Specific loci were identified that showed heterogeneity by menopausal status for testosterone and SHBG, with a more prominent role of genetic variants near genes expressed in adipose tissue in determining testosterone concentrations among postmenopausal women.

Summary: Premenopausal women show better response to antipsychotic drugs, caution is needed in using hormone replacement therapy for postmenopausal women with schizophrenia, and raloxifene combined with antipsychotics can effectively improve psychotic and cognitive symptoms in postmenopausal women with schizophrenia and related disorders.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of using an aromatase inhibitor as a substitute for testosterone in treating prolactinomas. The findings reveal that the aromatase inhibitor can inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in prolactinoma cells, as well as reduce prolactin and estrogen levels.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the role of aromatase inhibitors in the treatment of male prolactinomas with dopamine-agonist-resistant or persistent hypogonadism. The results showed that aromatase inhibitors can reduce estrogen levels, improve sensitivity to dopamine agonists, and control prolactin levels, leading to the shrinking of tumors.

Summary: Evolutionary success requires both production and reproduction, and their growth may be disproportionate as group size increases, leading to increasing returns and fitness benefits for groups that cooperate in production and limit reproduction. Allee effects and reproductive skew can occur when increasing returns determine optimal group size and proportion of reproductive females. Depending on the importance of food or maternal time for reproduction, lineages can reach different boundary constraints, such as having only one reproductive female during a period or having all females reproduce during their lifetimes but only during certain life stages.

Summary: Postmenopausal, obese women have a higher risk of developing estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast tumors, which are resistant to therapies. The relationship between obesity and breast cancer differs in pre-menopausal and post-menopausal women. Elucidation of the molecular mechanisms behind obesity-related breast tumors is critical for disease prevention and treatment. Understanding these mechanisms could potentially prevent and intervene in the promotion of breast cancer associated with excess adiposity.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of adding everolimus to adjuvant therapy in early breast cancer and found that among high-risk patients, adding everolimus to adjuvant endocrine therapy did not improve disease-free survival. Tolerability was also a concern, with more than half of the patients discontinuing everolimus treatment before the study completion.
