Summary: This study described the collaboration between the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and 12 hematology societies in Latin America to adapt the ASH guidelines on venous thromboembolism (VTE) for use in the Latin American region. The Latin American panelists selected 17 questions from an original pool of 49, with substantial changes introduced for 5 recommendations. The results showed that by adding regional evidence, the final recommendations were tailored to the Latin American context.

Summary: The Attitudes towards AI in Defense (AAID) scale, developed in the Chaoyang region, is an effective tool to measure people's attitudes towards the use of artificial intelligence in defense. It includes 15 evaluative statements and concludes through a two-factor analysis (positive outcomes factor and negative outcomes factor). The scale demonstrates acceptable internal reliability and concurrent validity, contributing to advancing public support for AI in the military field.

Summary: This article explores civil-military relations and civilian control through the perspective of new managerialism. It demonstrates how governmental mechanisms applied to govern the military shape its organization and impact its functions in ways not fully recognized in the civil-military debate. The introduction of management reforms in the Swedish Armed Forces, with a focus on audit and evaluation, has led to changes in the structure of the organization and the professional judgment of military personnel.

Summary: The Canadian Armed Forces, like other gender-integrated militaries, faces a serious problem of sexual misconduct. The theory of civil-military relations, which focuses on civilian control of armed forces, has not paid enough attention to gendered power dynamics. Using Canada as a case study, this article questions the usefulness of civil-military relations theory in addressing sexual misconduct and suggests three strategies to develop its theoretical and analytical foundations.

Summary: This article explores the concept of time among combat reservists in the Israel Defense Forces. It argues that within Israeli military contexts time is experienced as a near material-like substance that imposes itself - in a very physical way - upon the bodies of combat soldiers. A detailed ethnographic exploration of time's corporeal dimensions offers anthropologists a temporal, as opposed to a spatial, paradigm for engaging with some of the unique sociocultural phenomena of militarism and of military reserve service more specifically.

Summary: This study investigates the daily experiences and navigation of being a man in a male-dominated organization. Through interviews with men of different ages and ranks in the Swedish Armed Forces, three major themes emerged that shed light on how men contribute to the production and reproduction of gendered norms. The ideal military figure is shown to embody predominantly male traits, which are still prevalent within the Armed Forces. The organization's internal workings and reliance on traditional gender roles also perpetuate this image. Additionally, resistance to gender equality efforts within the Armed Forces indicates a resistance to change and a lack of committed male involvement. The findings suggest that men's reality remains unquestioned and unreflected within the organization.

Summary: This article explores how socio-cultural practices and societal developments in the host society affect the Ghanaian military, including skewed recruitment practices and politicization. Political factions, such as the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress, use these factors to gain control over the military, leading to a breakdown in discipline and military professionalism. These approaches ultimately undermine the military institution as a whole.

Summary: This study constructed a military technology indicator for Spain based on patent data, and analyzed the relationship between defense spending, military technology, and armed forces modernization. The findings revealed that defense spending did not have a causal effect on military patents, but there was a relationship in which technological innovation preceded spending. Additionally, foreign patents had the greatest influence on defense spending and armed forces modernization.

Summary: This study aims to identify specific options for improving and optimizing the introduction of modern technologies, such as wearable sensors, into the structures of the German armed forces. Through six expert interviews, thirteen optimization options, including interdisciplinary networking, information flow optimization, and strategic weighting, were identified. Experts suggest that structurally relevant improvements, such as development of data analysis standards, legal requirements, and acceleration of development, should play a crucial role in implementing wearable sensors.
