Summary: Restoring CuZnSOD specifically in neurons of mice deficient in SOD can prevent muscle atrophy and loss of force, and restore mitochondrial function, ROS generation, and calcium handling levels. This suggests that intact neuronal function and innervation are key to maintaining excitation-contraction coupling and muscle mitochondrial function.

Summary: DDAH1 plays a protective role in APAP-induced liver injury by attenuating oxidative stress, inflammation, and damage to the liver through influencing xenobiotic metabolism and glutathione metabolism pathways. Increasing hepatic DDAH1 expression and activity may be a novel approach for treating drug-induced acute liver injury.

Summary: Living organisms, including mice, can benefit from long-term exposure to a moderate static magnetic field (SMF) by improving lifespan and healthspan. The experiments showed that SMFs significantly enhanced exploratory and locomotive activities in aged mice, as well as their spatial learning ability and memory. Additionally, SMFs reduced oxidative stress in the brain of aged mice, suggesting their potential as an adjuvant physical therapy to reduce aging-related health risks in animals and humans.

Summary: Oxidative stress plays a crucial role in the development of atherosclerosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Monoamine oxidase is a major source of oxidative stress in the vascular system and liver. Inhibition of monoamine oxidase B shows potential as a novel treatment for atherosclerosis and NAFLD.

Summary: With aging, skeletal muscle undergoes atrophy and weakness. Changes in neuronal redox balance may affect mitochondrial function and muscle wasting. Research suggests that muscle mitochondrial function decreases with age and altered neuronal redox status, contributing to muscle wasting.

Summary: Deficiency of B-cell receptor-associated protein 31 reduced antioxidant response and Nrf2 signaling activation by decreasing Nrf2 mRNA stabilization, while enhancing JNK signaling activation, liver inflammation, and apoptosis, thereby amplifying APAP-induced hepatotoxicity in mice.

Summary: Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) is a transcription factor that plays a key role in combating oxidative stress by regulating anti-oxidation gene expression. The deubiquitinase USP25 binds to KEAP1 and prevents its own degradation, leading to the stabilization of NRF2. This study demonstrates that inhibiting or genetically eliminating USP25 attenuates liver damage and reduces mortality rates caused by acetaminophen (APAP) overdose-induced oxidative stress in mice.

Summary: This study investigated the hepatoprotective effects of nuciferine (Nuci) against acetaminophen (APAP)-induced acute liver injury (ALI) and explored its underlying mechanisms. The results showed that Nuci significantly attenuated APAP-induced ALI by reducing tissue pathological damage, inhibiting oxidative stress and inflammation, and regulating glutathione metabolism, anti-inflammatory responses, and autophagy.

Summary: Mitochondrial dysfunction is a pivotal factor in Alzheimer's Disease, and the protein Cav-1 may play a critical role in maintaining normal mitochondrial morphology and function by regulating mitochondrial dynamics. Neuron-targeted expression of Cav-1 in PSAPP mice was shown to improve cognitive function, neuronal morphology, and synaptic structure, while also protecting mitochondrial function.
