Summary: In this study, two homopolymers containing sulfoxide and ester groups were synthesized and showed distinctive temperature-responsive behavior with both LCST and UCST values. The mechanisms for UCST phase transition were revealed to be dipole-dipole interactions, which were previously unknown. Incorporating highly polar components and hydrophobic groups is a promising strategy for designing and synthesizing polymers with well-defined thermoresponsive properties.

Summary: Two different Schiff base methacrylate polymers were synthesized, and their thermal behavior, electrical properties, and antimicrobial activities were investigated in this study. The glass-transition temperature, residual amount at 1000 degrees C, and conductivity of the polymers were determined. Additionally, the polymers showed good antibacterial and antifungal properties against specific microorganisms.

Summary: A series of poly(aryl ether sulfone) with different amino group contents (ABPFx) were synthesized by nucleophilic polycondensation reaction. The ABPFx exhibits excellent thermal resistance, with a Tg of 277 degrees C, as well as maintaining good mechanical and film-forming properties. In particular, the ABPF10 membrane shows high gas permeability (P(H2) = 22.24 Bar) and gas selectivity (α(H2/N2) = 63.5). As a result, the ABPFx membranes have potential application value in the field of hydrogen separation for gas separation.

Summary: This paper presents a facile and effective method to improve the mechanical and thermal properties of CF/PPBESK composites by modifying PPBESK resin with SiC nanowires. The results show that the incorporation of SiC nanowires enhances the toughness of the resin and the interfacial performance between CF and PPBESK, leading to significant improvements in the mechanical and thermal properties of the composites.

Summary: Hepatic stellate cells, which store vitamin A in the liver, play a crucial role in the progression of fibrotic liver diseases. In this study, vitamin A was incorporated into amphiphilic poly(2-oxazoline) block copolymers to specifically target hepatic stellate cells. The successful functionalization of the copolymers was confirmed through various characterization techniques. Nanoparticles and micelles with and without the retinoate moieties were prepared and their cellular uptake was evaluated. The results showed that the uptake of the vitamin A-modified carrier was increased when the hydrophilic segments of the copolymer prevented the interaction between the retinoate moiety and the carrier core.

Summary: A novel poly(aryl ether sulfone) polymer containing isopropyl groups (iPrPESC) was successfully synthesized by SN2 aromatic nucleophilic polycondensation. The pyrolysis mechanism and behavior of iPrPESC were investigated using TG-FTIR and Py-GC/MS techniques. The results showed that the main pyrolysis mechanism of iPrPESC was one-stage random scission of the main chain, with the major products being SO2 and phenol. Moreover, the introduction of isopropyl groups significantly reduced the char yield.

Summary: In the study, a new APhA monomer and copolymer containing acetamido phenyl group were synthesized. Copolymers were prepared using different mole ratios of monomers, and characterized using FT-IR and NMR techniques. Results showed that an increase in APhA units in the copolymer led to a decrease in dielectric values.

The film showed excellent thermal stability, mechanical properties, hydrophobicity, and dielectric properties, making it highly suitable for microelectronic device applications.

Summary: In the high-tech field, there is a strong demand for materials with thermal insulation, mechanical properties, and processing properties. One promising option is Carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites (CFRTPs), which possess characteristics such as light weight, high strength, and high temperature resistance. This study investigated the effects and mechanisms of hollow glass beads (HGB) on the thermal insulation and mechanical properties of carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic polyphthalazine ether sulfone ketone composites (CF/PPESK). The addition of HGB significantly improved the material's thermal insulation performance and mechanical strength, making it a promising candidate for CFRTPs applications.
