Summary: SPHK1 is a conserved lipid enzyme that catalyzes the formation of S1P, and has been implicated in oncogenic functions, particularly in breast cancer. Recent evidence suggests a role for SPHK1 in regulating CSCs, indicating the therapeutic potential of targeting SPHK1 in refractory cancers enriched with CSCs.

Summary: The efficiency of gene editing via homology-directed repair (HDR) can be enhanced by covalently modifying the template DNA to form interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinked templates (xHDRTs) significantly increase Cas9-mediated editing efficiencies in various cell types. The increased editing from xHDRTs is dependent on events occurring on the template molecule and requires the ATR kinase and components of the Fanconi anemia pathway.

Summary: Intestinal epithelial barrier defects commonly occur in various pathological conditions, and the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. S1P and SphK1 are critical regulators of intestinal epithelial barrier maintenance, with miR-542-5p serving as an effector of c-myc translation. miR-542-5p directly regulates c-myc translation by binding to c-myc mRNA. This research highlights the importance of miR-542-5p in the regulation of S1P-mediated intestinal barrier function.

Summary: The sulfation of curdlan was achieved by modifying it with sulfur trioxide-pyridine complex. Using a pH-driven method, curcumin-loaded curdlan sulfate-sodium caseinate stabilized foxtail millet prolamin nanoparticles were successfully created. The study demonstrated that the incorporation of curdlan sulfate significantly affected the physicochemical properties, encapsulation efficiency, and release profile of the foxtail millet prolamin particles.

Summary: The aim of this study was to prepare insulin-loaded nanoparticles using soybean trypsin inhibitor (STI) and chitosan (CS) as a potential coating. The nanoparticles were prepared by complex coacervation and characterized for their particle size, polydispersity index (PDI), and encapsulation efficiency. In vitro evaluation of simulated gastrointestinal digestion showed that the prepared nanoparticles could improve the stability of insulin in the gastrointestinal tract. These findings will provide a theoretical basis for improving the stability of oral insulin in the gastrointestinal tract.

Summary: This paper presents a technique based on micro gas chromatography for fast and accurate analysis of diesel fuels adulterated with kerosene. The separation columns fabricated using MEMS technology can discriminate as little as 5% added kerosene with only four seconds of chromatogram analysis. The linear relationship between the chromatograms and diesel purity was determined through chemometrics methods.
