Summary: This study investigated the solubility and dissolution behavior of isosorbide 5-mononitrate (5-SIMN) in organic solvents through experimental and simulation approaches. The results showed that the solubility increased with temperature and was influenced by the properties of the solvents. The findings provide important theoretical and practical insights into the dissolution and mixing properties of this pharmaceutical compound.

Summary: This study investigated cardiorespiratory fitness markers in obese patients undergoing sleeve gastrectomy, finding peak aerobic exercise capacity significantly associated with body fat composition and self-reported quality of life. These findings may be useful for developing preoperative and postoperative exercise strategies for morbidly obese patients undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.

Summary: The study found that patients with INOCA have a significant impact on quality of life, with increased physical limitations, angina frequency, and reduced quality of life. These patients report increased time missed from work and work limitations, indicating a substantial economic impact. CMD is a common cause of INOCA, but it is not associated with increased morbidity.

Summary: This study found that patient-reported severity of illness often did not match up with objective testing results. Despite common occurrences of symptom minimization and magnification, mortality risk was more closely associated with objective data, emphasizing the importance of using both patient reports and objective data when evaluating heart failure patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of intracoronary CD34+ cell therapy in patients with coronary microvascular dysfunction. The results showed that patients receiving CD34+ cell therapy had improved coronary flow reserve, reduced angina symptoms, and improved quality of life after 6 months of treatment. This study supports the potential therapeutic role of CD34+ cells in patients with microvascular angina.

Summary: This study aims to explore the causality between mindfulness practices and inflammaging responses through a meta-analysis and systematic review. Data will be collected from relevant observational studies and analyzed using various methods. The effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions on inflammaging will be evaluated, and a narrative review will provide a deeper understanding of the primary outcomes.

Summary: The review summarizes studies investigating blood biomarkers related to coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) and microvascular angina (MVA). By analyzing biomarkers into 3 groups based on the main mechanisms of CMD, the review considers mixed mechanisms and biomarkers not included in the 3 major categories. This exploration may lead to easier diagnosis and screening of CMD with reduced risks and costs associated with invasive procedures.

Summary: This study is the first to show that patients with MVA have high LPS levels, NOX2 activation, and an imbalance between pro-oxidant and antioxidant systems, favoring oxidizing molecules that may be implicated in the endothelial dysfunction and vasoconstriction of the disease.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of exercise treadmill testing (ETT) in the diagnosis of coronary microvascular disease (CMD) and the prognostic implications of ETT results in CMD patients. The study found that ETT has limited sensitivity in detecting CMD, but a positive ETT with ischemic changes lasting at least 1 minute into recovery and the absence of obstructive coronary artery disease may indicate the presence of CMD.

Summary: This article reviews the effects of physical activity on the management and quality of life in patients with endometriosis. The findings suggest that body awareness practices such as Hatha yoga and progressive muscle relaxation can reduce pain and stress and improve the quality of life associated with endometriosis. However, caution should be taken in considering patients' physical abilities and avoiding intense physical activities. More research is needed to explore nonmedicinal or surgical techniques for different forms of endometriosis and its symptoms.

Summary: The study aimed to assess whether the increase in troponin I (TnI) levels after exercise stress test (EST) could help identify patients with obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) and myocardial ischemia in those suspected of having stable angina. Results showed that TnI levels increased after EST, but this increase was largely independent of the results of coronary angiography and EST, regardless of the presence of obstructive CAD or not, and whether the EST results were positive or negative.

Summary: The management of angina and myocardial ischemia has historically focused on obstructive coronary artery disease, but a significant proportion of patients do not have obstructive CAD. Functional mechanisms and coronary vasomotor disorders may be involved in myocardial ischemia, but diagnosing these disorders can be challenging. Coronary provocative tests can provide valuable information on the pathogenic mechanism of myocardial ischemia, but their use in clinical practice is limited and mainly restricted to specialized centers.

Summary: This study found that in type 2 diabetes patients, diastolic dysfunction is associated with impairment of endothelium-independent dilatation, but not with endothelium-dependent dilatation; cardiac autonomic dysfunction may be present in patients with more severe diastolic dysfunction. Therefore, further investigation is needed to explore the role of cardiac autonomic dysfunction in diastolic dysfunction in larger populations.

Summary: Numerous studies have shown that abnormalities in coronary microcirculation may be the cause of acute and chronic cardiac ischemic syndromes. The microvascular origin of myocardial ischemia and angina is considered in clinical practice when patients have normal or near-normal coronary arteries during angiography. This article reviews the diagnostic approach for patients suspected of having coronary microvascular dysfunction as the cause of ischemic syndromes and proposes a classification for chronic and acute microvascular coronary ischemic syndrome, including myocardial infarction with normal coronary arteries.

Summary: Calcium channel blockers are the first-line treatment for coronary artery spasm. When these medications are ineffective, long-acting nitrates or nicorandil may be added. Other alternative drugs and interventions, such as Rho-kinase inhibitors, anti-adrenergic drugs, neural therapies, and percutaneous coronary interventions, can be considered for refractory cases. Implantation of an ICD or pacemaker should be considered for patients with syncope or cardiac arrest caused by CAS-related arrhythmias, based on the risk of recurrence and efficacy of vasodilator therapy.
