Summary: This study validated that common and rare bacteria and fungi can be detected by testing peptidoglycan (PGN), lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and (1,3)-Beta-D-Glucan (BDG) in the plasma. The diagnostic efficacy of PGN, LPS, and BDG was consistent with clinical diagnosis, with high sensitivity, specificity, and total coincidence rate. The positive rates and multi-marker detection approach for PGN, LPS, and BDG were significantly higher than that of blood culture. Plasma PGN, LPS, and BDG perform well in the early diagnosis of bloodstream infections caused by various pathogens.

Summary: The study found that the immune system of greater wax moth can recognize and trigger defense response to Aspergillus niger alpha-1,3-glucan. Various hemolymph proteins interacting with this glucan play important roles in the immune system, promoting the expression of defense peptides and increasing antifungal activity.

Summary: In this study, the potential effects of dietary supplementation with beta-1,3 glucan and fructooligosaccharides on the antioxidant activities, immunological response, and growth performance of Pacific white shrimp were investigated. The results showed that the supplementation significantly improved shrimp weight gain, feed conversion ratio, and digestive enzyme profiles. The antioxidants and immune biomarkers activities were also significantly elevated with increasing levels of beta-1,3 GF in the shrimp diet. The study recommends an optimal level of 1.5 g kg(-1) for enhancing growth performance and improving antioxidant activities, immunity, and disease resistance of the shrimp.

Summary: The study found that MLGs are a group of carbohydrate-based molecular patterns perceived by plants, with MLG43 being the smallest structure capable of triggering strong pattern-triggered immunity responses and disease resistance. The mechanism of MLG43 recognition differs from that of other carbohydrate MAMPs, providing potential insights into plant immunity mechanisms.

Summary: Melanization and encapsulation are important defense responses against microbes in host insects. In the ghost moth Thitarodes xiaojinensis, the proteins beta GRP1 and IML8 play crucial roles in modulating immune responses, while O. sinensis may evade melanization by preventing beta GRP1 recognition.

Summary: The water-soluble aminated beta-1,3-D-glucan (AG) showed no obvious cytotoxicity at certain concentrations and exhibited significant anti-inflammatory effects. AG/pDNA nanocomposites prepared by electrostatic interaction have appropriate particle sizes and zeta potentials, leading to significantly increased transfection efficiencies in cells.

Summary: The cytosolic DNA-sensing immune response plays a crucial role in recognizing and establishing effective host immune responses to pathogens. The discovery of the Penaeus monodon stimulator of interferon gene (PmSTING) and interferon regulatory factor (PmIRF) genes highlights their important roles in host defense against viral infections, mediating antiviral immune defenses via signaling cascade in P. monodon.

Summary: This study conducted genome sequencing and analysis of Apocyclops royi, a small aquatic crustacean. The researchers identified genes related to the shrimp Toll pathway and discovered a novel antimicrobial peptide. The expression analysis indicated the importance of these genes in the immune response of copepods. This knowledge can be applied to future functional studies and disease prevention in copepod aquaculture.

Summary: The crab proline-rich AMP SpPR-AMP1 has potent antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. This study demonstrates that SpPR-AMP1 has therapeutic effects against AHPND infection caused by Vibrio campbellii VH-639 and can enhance the innate immune response in shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. SpPR-AMP1 disrupts the bacterial cell membrane and promotes shrimp's resistance against V. campbellii VH-639 infection.
