The size of electrode spacing significantly affects hydrogen production, with smaller electrode spacing increasing the interaction between the ionic electrolyte and the electrode, leading to higher efficiency in hydrogen generation. This experimental study provides important insights for alkaline water electrolysis for hydrogen production.
The paper presents an experimental study of hydrogen production by alkaline water electrolysis using a homemade alkaline electrolyzer. The effect of electrode spacing on hydrogen production was investigated. The results demonstrated that electrode spacing plays a significant role in hydrogen production. Smaller electrode spacing distance increases the interaction between the ionic electrolyte and the immersed electrode thereby increasing the rate of the electrochemical reaction, hydrogen production, and efficiency.
