Summary: COVID-19, triggered by SARS-Cov2 infection, is a multisystem inflammatory disorder characterized by acute respiratory distress syndrome, cytokine-driven hyper inflammation, and leukocytes count changes. Neutrophils have been identified as essential effector cells in the development of COVID-19, utilizing mechanisms such as neutrophil enzymes, cytokines, and neutrophil extracellular traps. This review summarizes significant findings regarding neutrophils and their effector mechanisms in COVID-19.

Summary: The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2 a pandemic in March 2020. With no effective treatment or vaccine yet, the focus is on containing and controlling the spread of the disease. Dentists and healthcare staff are at the highest risk of acquiring SARS-CoV-2 due to the aerosols produced during dental procedures and the close proximity to patients. Various guidelines have been proposed to limit the transmission of the virus in dental settings.

Summary: RT-PCR remains the gold standard for COVID-19 diagnosis, but more rapid or affordable testing options have been developed. Antigen testing, while less sensitive than molecular assays, may be preferable for wider screening initiatives. Simple parameters can facilitate prognostication and triage.

Summary: This paper aimed to study the characteristics, laboratory data, and outcomes of monkeypox virus (MPV) and COVID-19 co-infection. Three male patients with multiple comorbid conditions and a history of sexual activity with men prior to infection were diagnosed with PCR and admitted to the hospital. All cases were effectively managed and recovered well during hospitalization. Future investigations with larger sample sizes are needed to establish a definitive cause-effect association between SARS-CoV-2 and MPV co-infection and patient outcomes.
