Summary: This study investigated the cardioprotective effects of Nootkatone (NKT) in rats against isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction, showing that NKT significantly restored or modulated altered biochemical and molecular parameters in the heart tissues. Histopathological observations confirmed the myocardial restoring effect of NKT, suggesting it as a potential alternative to cardioprotective agents in ischemic heart diseases.

Summary: The study found that intrinsic myocardial depression occurs earlier than hepatic and renal dysfunction in sepsis, and serum cTnI, NT-proBNP, and H-FABP are not suitable as early biomarkers for sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction. DOB treatment can improve survival in septic rats, but does not significantly impact myocardial function and hemodynamics.

Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated the role of Serinc2 in sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SIC) and found that a deficiency of Serinc2 aggravated myocardial inflammation, necroptosis, and apoptosis, resulting in impaired cardiac function. They also discovered that Serinc2 played a protective role in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cardiomyopathy. These findings suggest that Serinc2 could be a potential prophylactic and therapeutic target for SIC.

Summary: The study showed that lncRNA-NR024118 is downregulated in sepsis patients and is associated with increased levels of IL-6. Patients with sepsis and myocardial dysfunction had even lower NR024118 expression and higher IL-6 levels, which were inversely correlated. Functional studies demonstrated that NR024118 negatively regulated p65 phosphorylation and NF-kappa B activation, suppressing sepsis and inhibiting LPS-induced apoptosis of cardiomyocytes.

Summary: Sepsis-induced myocardial depression (SIMD) is a common condition in pediatric intensive care units and poses a serious threat to children's health. This study investigated the role of a novel long noncoding RNA, lncRNA-AABR07066529.3, in SIMD. The findings showed that lncRNA-AABR07066529.3 expression was elevated in the hearts of rats and cardiomyocytes treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and its knockdown exacerbated LPS-induced inflammation, apoptosis, and pyroptosis. Furthermore, lncRNA-AABR07066529.3 regulated MyD88 and may serve as a potential treatment target for SIMD.

Summary: Myocardial injury in sepsis is a severe complication resulting in increased morbidity and mortality. Recent studies have shown that reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated ferroptosis plays a crucial role in the development of heart diseases. In this study, the researchers demonstrated that a small biocompatible and MRI-visible melanin nanoparticles (MMPP) can improve myocardial function by inhibiting the ROS-related ferroptosis signaling pathway. Through various experiments, they showed that MMPP alleviated myocardial injury, suppressed iron-accumulation induced ferroptosis, and protected against sepsis-induced cardiac injury. These findings suggest that MMPP could be a potential novel therapeutic approach in the future.

Summary: Sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction (SIMD) is the main cause of death in ICU patients with sepsis, characterized by systolic and diastolic dysfunctions of the myocardium. Despite our understanding of SIMD over the past 30 years, its incidence and mortality remain high, mainly due to the heterogeneity of factors involved. Previously, organ dysfunction in sepsis was attributed to excessive inflammatory response, but recent studies suggest that SIMD is a result of inflammatory interactions between the pathogen and the host. This article reviews the mechanisms of inflammatory responses and potential novel therapeutic strategies in SIMD.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrated that melatonin (Mel) protects human stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) from pyroptosis during endotoxemia by activating autophagy. This antipyroptotic effect of Mel was accompanied by decreased release of LDH, increased cell viability, and inhibition of pyroptotic markers such as NLRP3 and cleaved caspase-1. Additionally, Mel reversed the decrease in autophagosomes observed in LPS-injured hiPSC-CMs, highlighting the potential therapeutic role of Mel in endotoxemia-induced cardiomyocyte injury.

Summary: A series of SiC/Al composites with different contents of 3-dimensional graphene networks (3DGN) were prepared using mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering. The effects of 3DGN on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion behaviors of SiC-3DGN/Al composites were investigated. The results showed that 3DGN substantially enhanced the synergistic strength-toughness of SiC/Al composites by improving the interface cohesion and increasing hardness, density, ductility, and corrosion resistance in NaCl solution.

This study investigates the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of 3DGN in Al matrix. Results show that the densification of 3DGN/Al composites slightly decreases with increasing 3DGN content. Additionally, the addition of 3DGN aggravates the corrosion of aluminum compared to pure aluminum. Summary: Multi-view graph clustering has attracted extensive research attention due to its ability to capture consistent and complementary information between views. However, multi-view data are mostly high-dimensional and may contain redundant and irrelevant features. In addition, the original data are often contaminated by noise and outliers, affecting the reliability of the learned affinity matrix. This study proposes a robust multi-view clustering model that combines low-dimensional and low-rank latent space learning, self-representation learning, and multi-view discrepancy induction fusion. Experimental results on benchmark datasets show that the proposed model outperforms state-of-the-art comparison models in terms of robustness and clustering performance.
