Summary: Climate change poses a significant threat to the livestock industry globally, impacting the profitability of livestock farmers in Pakistan. The study examines the efficacy of silage in mitigating these losses, finding a notable difference in material well-being between silage users and conventional feed users. Implementing training programs could enhance climate change adaptation and food security, recommending their incorporation into policy plans to improve farmers' well-being in terms of farm revenues.

Summary: Food insecurity in the United States remains prevalent, impacting millions of households. This study examines the association between income, assets, and the risk of facing a worsening food insecurity trajectory. Findings suggest that higher income and more assets are associated with a lower probability of experiencing long-term food insecurity. The study emphasizes the need for targeted financial support strategies to reduce the risk of food insecurity.

Summary: The government policy measures in Nigeria during the initial three months of the COVID-19 pandemic had significant negative impacts on household livelihoods and food security. This study examines the effects of COVID-19 on food security and dietary diversity, considering the role of income loss, wealth, social capital, and safety net programs. The findings indicate that income loss led to more severe food insecurity and less diverse nutritional outcomes for households. Livestock ownership helped cushion the impact of the pandemic on food security. However, social capital and safety net programs did not provide significant protection. The study suggests prioritizing local job creation, building household wealth, and targeting safety nets and social support programs to enhance their effectiveness during shocks.

Summary: This study explores the connection between small-scale freshwater aquaculture and poverty-related factors such as income generation and food security in rural Madagascar. The findings reveal positive correlations between extension services, integrated production systems, and higher education with fish-based income generation. Additionally, wealth is identified as a crucial determinant of food security, but female decision-makers, fish consumption, and education are also positively correlated with food security.

Summary: This study proposes a conceptual framework called climate change resettlement capacity (CCRC) that can be used to identify potential resettlement places for climate migrants. The framework focuses on livelihood reconstruction and includes two main dimensions - assets and conditions - with corresponding indicators. Expert evaluation and a case study in Ethiopia were used to validate the framework. It can assist international organizations, governments, and policymakers in identifying suitable resettlement places and be applied to theoretical and empirical studies on climate-induced resettlement.

Summary: This study explores the impacts of adopting an ecosystem approach in underutilized homestead ponds on sustainability in Bangladesh. The findings show that households with ecoponds have higher fish productivity, fish diversity, and income generation potential. Moreover, it improves certain dimensions of women's empowerment, although wider structural inequalities are not addressed. The study also finds inconclusive impacts on food security.

Summary: This study explores the vulnerability of indigenous farming households in Guangaje, Ecuador by creating a livelihood asset index. The use of an asset index allows for the identification of different areas of vulnerability across three communities. The research suggests that improving social and financial capital, along with increasing human capital through education, could decrease vulnerability and improve livelihood outcomes for similar indigenous farming communities worldwide.

Summary: This paper examines the impact of a new communal property rights framework on pastoralist livelihoods, perceptions and aspirations in Ethiopia. The findings suggest that diversification of livelihoods is necessary due to the difficulty of relying solely on livestock keeping. Crop production is increasingly becoming an alternative livelihood source for pastoralists. There is a widely held view that land certification can help secure land rights and enable better management of rangelands, but it may also accelerate the transition from pastoralism to agropastoralism.

Summary: Agriculture is crucial for global food production, with smallholder households playing a significant role. The Malawian study found that crop production, livestock farming, and providing casual labor are the main income sources for smallholders. The whole-farm approach enhances smallholders' resilience to climate change and poverty, while improving market connections is important for increased sales.
