Summary: This article reports two cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) following COVID-19 vaccination and reviews relevant literature. The study found that patients who received the AstraZeneca adenovirus vector vaccine had higher incidence of GBS and a greater need for mechanical ventilation. However, accurate estimation of the incidence cannot be achieved through case reports alone. Therefore, population-based data should be used to determine the true rates of GBS following COVID-19 vaccination.

Summary: Vaccines are the most effective way to combat the global impact of COVID-19, but hesitancy is common among minorities. Research suggests that the incidence of GBS among recipients of mRNA vaccines may align with the community-based rate, but caution is advised as the current GBS incidence among the unvaccinated population is unknown. This data aims to increase public confidence in mRNA-based vaccines and reduce hesitancy.

Summary: In three districts of Kerala, India, around 1.5 million individuals have been vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines, with over 80% receiving the ChAdOx1-S/nCoV-19 vaccine. Seven cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) have been observed within this vaccinated population, with a frequency 1.4- to 10-fold higher than expected.

Summary: This study focuses on the association between COVID-19 vaccination and Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS). A total of 42 case reports from 16 different countries were analyzed. Clinical features observed in the case reports included back pain, facial diplegia, weakness, and paresthesia. Diagnostic studies primarily involved cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis and electromagnetic studies. Treatment options included intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), plasmapheresis, and steroids. Further studies are needed to explore the causative links in this correlation and gain a better understanding of the relationship.

Summary: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the incidence rates of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) associated with viral vaccine administration. Our findings showed that within six weeks of vaccination, the incidence rate of GBS was 3.09 per million persons. Subgroup analyses revealed that the rates were 2.77 per million persons for influenza vaccine recipients and 2.44 per million persons for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine recipients. These results provide important reference for the evaluation of post-vaccination GBS rates in mass immunization campaigns.

Summary: This study investigates the impacts of environmental filtering and biotic interactions on spatial and temporal associations among bird species using a novel hypothesis-testing framework based on joint dynamic species distribution models and functional trait similarity. Summary: This study evaluated the longitudinal performance of the Rasch-Built Overall Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Disability Scale (ROADS) compared to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Functional Rating Scale Revised for Self-Entry (ALSFRS-RSE) as patient reported outcomes of functional status in people with ALS. The results showed high agreement between the two scales at different time points, but ROADS had some psychometric advantages. Therefore, further investigation is warranted to assess the potential of ROADS as a patient reported outcome measure of overall disability and efficacy in ALS trials.
